Tweak the media player equalizer for great sound

The ProMedia 2.1s really are great sounding once you spend some time adjusting the media player graphic equalizer (see attached photo of my settings). Straight out of the box, the sound seemed noticeably flat and quite ordinary until I found the right equalizer settings for my aged ears. I suspect those reviewers that found the sound quality poor either didn't or couldn't adjust their player for optimal sound quality or should be spending more cash to suit their high expectations. Sure, you can find better sound for two or three times the price but for a computer or mp3 player?

Set up was easy but, just as with any other amp and speaker setup, pay attention that the red striped wires go into the red retainers and the black into black - it's a polarity thing.

I can't speak for the system durability as I have only played about 50 songs through it. The only negative is that there is no power switch necessitating the use of a power strip to turn off the AC power to the subwoofer. That aside, I am pleased with my purchase.

What's great about it: sound quality, easy set up

What's not so great: lack of power on/off switch

I would recommend this to a friend!

The best 2.1 setup for PC you can find.

I have had these amazing speakers for well over 3 years. I bought them back when they were reintroduced to the market after a decade of being discontinued at stores. Having heard a lot of positive reviews and after reading countless online raves about this set, it was a no brainer that I took one home the moment I saw one at best buy.

Sound quality - The best possible PC speakers you can get for your money. The highs sound crystal clear, the mids are precise and hard hitting bass is just not easy to get right. However these Klipsch's live up to their name and deliver on what they promise unlike many other gaming brands like Corsair, Logitech etc. The sound is very well balanced and the bass does not overpower or drown the musicality of the satellite speakers which is a rare thing to come by.

Build quality - The solid feel and heft to each speakers is a good indication of attention paid build materials. However I still hold a grudge against the volume knob which with time creates cracking noises and chirps ( mine after a year of use) as you increase or decrease the volume. The Best Buy's demo unit is a testament to that as it has been fiddled around by passers by a lot. Also mine completely stopped working after 3 years of solid use. I have no complaints, since I had a great time shaking the walls off and making my apartment neighbors complain most of times while I felt the vibration travel through the floor where I had the privilege to not just hear the music, but also to feel the rumble as well.

Will I buy again? Yes, and I would also recommend to anyone who is willing to buy PC speaker for multimedia use. If you want the best sounding PC speaker that is not hard on your wallet, yet outstanding on performance, this is it.

What's great about it: Amazing sound. Balanced tonal range. Hard hitting bass.

What's not so great: Longetivity.

Close to Hi-Fi

First what I am used to: Fronts Klipsch Cornwalls, Center Klipsch RC3, Surrounds Klipsch RS3's, Sub SVS Cylinder, with a 92" 720P HD projector. I have downsized as now all my viewing is for me alone and not for friends/parties. I still own the above.
I now use a 2012 (delivered 2013) iMac with the Klipish Pro Media 2.1's and like the system a lot! If this caliber of computer + (low cost) speakers had been available then I may have saved a ton.
Can the sub tear down my house (like the SVS can)? No, but it is accurate at normal listening levels. Do the speakers compare to the Cornwalls? No but again at normal listening levels they are VERY good.
Bottom line for what you could pay for speakers alone you could get a VERY superior computer to watch your iTunes movies and still have a very good sound system.

I did plenty of online research before actually stopping into my local Best Buy to hear this system in the store. Didn't take long for that box of Klipsch's(?) to hit checkout. So EZ to set up! I think it took longer to get everything out of the box/packing than get it all hooked up to my iMac. Holy falling plaster! Unbelievable sound from 3 speakers!!! Almost puts my home theater system to shame. Amazing wall-shaking sub & the satellites carry the rest of the load perfectly. I am very happy with the quality of this balanced system & the price easily could be twice as much. Super deal from a respected manufacturer.

Amazing sound!

I don't normally write reviews, but these speakers are outstanding! I use them to play music in my living room / kitchen area. I had an older set of Logitech speakers prior, and these absolutely blow them out of the water. Of course an extra 150 watts does make a difference. Base is amazing, and high end, and midrange is more than adequate for the speaker size. Love them.

Best system yet

This is the best system I have personally ever purchased, so loud, so clear, loud base that is clear, small but powerful. My neighbors houses down could hear this if I turn it all the way up. I would love to add some more speakers.
