I ended up buying these speakers with a gift card I got for Christmas so I wasn't planning on buying these at first. I decided to go with these since I have a Klipsh 2.1system (CS-700) which I use for my TV in my apartment. I have to say I am beyond happy with these speakers. These speakers provide great bass but can be adjusted to your own preference since there is a bass control on the speakers. I find myself watching a lot more movies on my computer since I want to enjoy and hear these speakers. Out of all the electronic items I have ever bought, I must say that this is one of the best purchases for the price! You need to pick this up!
What's great about it: Bass control...Loud Crisp Sound
What's not so great: N/A
I would recommend this to a friend!

Man these speakers are so great I wish I could put this in my living room. The bass is clear and deep I plug up my ipod easily to the speaker and let it bang in my room. I mean this thing is great. If you have an apartment the bass could make your neighbors mad cause I play mine in my room upstairs and the bass thumps through the house so clean. Excellent for music or anything else you wanna hook up and play. Sub back does get hot but so what. Easy to hook-up, easy to use, easy to enjoy. Only bad is power button being on back of sub so hard to get to (depending on where you place it) if you cut the speakers off and on alot.
What's great about it: The sound is crazy nice. Sounds good enough for home theater system.
What's not so great: System isn't big enough to put in a main room of house.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Learned a lot from all the other reviews - Thank you. I am very happy with my purchase, these are great speakers! I wanted to add a couple of things not covered in other reviews.
1- The sound from these speakers will only be as good as your sound card, its drivers, and settings. Some sound cards default to non-flat equalization settings to compensate for "typical" limited frequency PC speakers. If the sound from these speakers doesn't meet your expectations check you sound card settings and be sure you have the latest driver(s) before assuming the speakers are at fault.
2. Placement of the subwoofer can significantly effect its performance. The manual gives the suggested placement as the back of the subwoofer being against a wall. The subwoofer has a factory marking noting a recommended setting. This is roughly 1/3 of the subwoofers volume adjustment and may be more bass than some prefer. Because the subwoofer crossover frequency is low you can reduce the subwoofer volume and not effect the overall sound quality.
3. The Best Buy specifications for these speakers indicates a 5 yr warranty but the paperwork that came with my set (12-2009) say 1 yr.
4. AC power consumption measured with a KILL-A-WATT meter is 14 watts at all but the highest volume.
These speakers replaced a set of 2.1 Altec-Lansing. The Altec's were good speakers using an unconventional downward facing mid-range driver in the satallites. These Klipsch cost roughly 50% more than the Altec's but the sound quality is noteable, equal to or greater than the increase in price. I expect to get many years of great performance out of this set of Klipsch.
What's great about it: Excellent clarity, quality construction
What's not so great: No power on/off with volume and sub-volume controls (on/off switch is on back of subwoofer)
I would recommend this to a friend!

These speakers sound fantastic and are far superior to the Logitech Z523's (which I ditched within 24 hours of purchase due to sound quality concerns). The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers have good detail, warm sound, and a depth that exudes quality. They do not sound harsh or shrill at reasonable levels and are well balanced with the subwoofer. They play quite loud, but will begin to distort and sound harsh when pushed to the limit (which is quite loud). When playing the Logitech Z523's loud, you can feel the speaker cabinet vibrate contributing to a buzzing sound you can hear. Vibration is not an issue with the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1.
In all fairness to Logitech, the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers do cost more than the aforementioned Z523‘s, but the difference in sound quality is greater than the difference in price.
I was quick to accept the myriad reviews that lauded praise on speakers like Logitech makes, but it is clear to see (and hear) that tried and true speaker manufacturers (as opposed to mouse and keyboard manufacturers) now how to build quality for the purpose of high quality sound reproduction.
After three different speaker system auditions, I have found the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 to be a great balance of audiophile sound quality for the person on a budget. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone looking in the $100 to $150 price range.
What's great about it: Great sound and build quality.
What's not so great: Nothing comes to mind.

I read the numerous reviews on this site and others, still without hearing the speakers and subwooder in person. Went by my local BEST BUY and gave them a listen, compared them to the Bose System 3, various Logitechs, and there was NO comparison! Great value, sound, and I won't sweat what I could have at this bargain basement price!
p.s. I had to give them a "4" on appearance because of the "cheesy" rubber pads supplied for the bases of the speakers, and the bottom of the subwoofer, and nothing is perfect! lol
What's great about it: sound, dynamics, power, ease of installation, price, what else do you want?
What's not so great: feet supplied for speakers and the subwoofer...could have been much better!
I would recommend this to a friend!

You will never find better speakers for the price.

Unless you go out and build a custom audio setup with a receiver and speakers, you will never find a better 2.1 (or dare I say even the 5.1) PC speaker setup for anywhere near the price. Don't be fooled by the in store setup, these are even 10 times better than the Bose 2.1 speakers.
Anyone who rated these any less than a 5 has issues and debates, and I would question their sanity.
These speakers can get LOUD. 200 WATTS people, 200 WATTS. Those Logitech speakers... those 5.1 doo-hickies... wont even come close. At 1/4 volume, these speakers get louder than my previous Altecs (and not the cheap Altecs) did at full volume.
Do not turn the bass knob past the white indicator. Infact you may want to turn it down. If having the bass knob at the white indicator is not enough for you, go to the doctors andhave your ears cleaned or tubes put in, because this sub delivers bass.
Remember, these are for audiophiles. These are for people who love music, who want to feel their movies, who just plain want and know how to get the best sound possible.
However, there are two things that will limit your ability to hear and understand how great these speakers are. The first being that you are just severely tone deaf and have no ear for good, proper sound reproduction.
The second is a bad sound card. If you are going to invest in these, also invest is a decent sound card. On Board PC sound has come a long ways, you may not think there is a difference, there is. Invest another $50-$99 and get a SoundBlaster sound card from Best Buy as well. Spend more if you want, just get one. They have even better ones online as well.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed. You may even decide to junk that wanna be pro audio home theater thing you bought and just use your computer for everything. I accept no responsibility if you become permanently planted in your desk chair.
What's great about it: Sound Quality, Build Quality
What's not so great: Doesn't do my laundry

I almost bought the Bose and I'm glad I didn't. I listen to Metal and needed something that can withstand the constant double bass beating. I seriously can't turn the speakers up beyond 1; they are loud and the bass is very powerful. My only gripe, is that the on/off switch is located on the back of the subwoofer, which is on the floor. Terrible placement.
What's great about it: Great price, very powerful, nice subwoofer
What's not so great: The on/off switch is located on the back of the subwoofer
