I had the Harmon Kardon HK395 2.1 system and it was okay but, i wanted a powered system that could make me say "WOW". I had researched the web for a couple of months trying to find that "WOW" sound i was looking for. I have had Bose speakers and they were okay but i think it was the name "Bose" that made them more than they were. I had saw alot of positive reviews on the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system. I had also saw alot of complaints about the din connector failing. I don't have this problem but i would advise being careful when you put the push down on the spring connectors as they can pop out if you are not careful. Make no mistake, these speakers sound incredible!! I am a disabled Vet so when i spend money i have to be sure because i don't have much money. You will absolutely love these speakers!!!!!
What's great about it: Big Punchy Bass

One of the small-scale configs I run as a mobile DJ uses a laptop and iPod for smaller venues like clubhouses, in-home parties, wine bars, etc. 400W pole-mounted Peavey's tend to be overkill given the cords, amps, etc involved in setting up, especially if loud, pounding music isn't necessary/expected. I bought the Klipsch system to use at these small venues where a mix of voice and music are involved. Last week I hosted a Music Trivia event at a friend's party in her home and the Klipsch's were absolutely perfect. I've owned Klipsch's as part of my home theater setup for 25+ years so sticking w/the brand was an easy choice. I drive them with a Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 external sound card and couldn't be happier - the midrange projected my voice very clearly and the bass and overall tonal range were excellent. Even when I crank the volume to the point of being uncomfortably loud, they're only at 65-70% of max and barely breaking a sweat. The system literally paid for itself the first event I worked.
What's great about it: Clear, rich sound; good solid bass, very small footprint
What's not so great: excessive wiring (typical of x.1 systems)
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had some decent and even what I called "good" speakers for the computer in the past few years, but nothing like this. Once upon a time years ago I worked in an audiophile shop and developed a very critical listening ear. Given the size and price and quality of media on the computer, I've not expected to be overly impressed, so I've been satisfied with "being satisfied." That has changed. The bass is strong--very tight and truly hammers the floor. The mid-range and highs have a smooth fullness without any noticeable spikes when listened with flat EQ settings. With these speakers, the EQ adjustments actually make the kind of subtle changes one hopes to hear when making adjustments. I hope these stay available. The only thing I've noticed about really great stuff like this is that they don't stay on the market very long--a mystery. Maybe it's really too good to be true!
What's great about it: Crisp, clear and full range of sound; I'm surprised every time I turn on the music!
What's not so great: No down side here!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Below is my story. Here is my review. These are great speakers for the price. You have control over the bass next to the main volume, and the bass works very well. I love the high and mid on these. I have a very keen ear for a good pair of speakers, and these are one of the few I would actually recommend to someone else. These surpass Logitec any day!
My previous speakers, a Boston 2.1 set, were superb. I loved them so much. But I was borrowing them from a friend until he found a new house. So when I went searching for a new pair, I wanted to by ones that were made by a speaker company. I didn't want to by from someone like Logitec, for all they're good for is mice. Then I looked up Klipsch, and found these speakers. There were some bad reviews, but there is
ALWAYS A FEW BAD UNITS
DON'T TRUST THESE REVIEWS!!!!!
So I bought these.
What's great about it: Superior Trebles, Great Bass, Controls bass and volume from a speaker, Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Klipsch Rocks!

I 've had these speakers for little over a month now and they are Great! I tested out Logitech z-2300's and was not impressed due to too much bass, lack of mid ranges, and short sat cables. Besides logitech is known for great PC mice and keyboards. NOT high quality PC speaker systems. At least not to me!
So, I found out about Klipsch(known for making speakers for over sixty years). I believe I've made a good decision to purchase their PC speakers. My games, music, DVDs (movies) roar to life using these speakers. I listen to a variety of music from R&R, R&B, Classical, and Blues. I love the rich and deep bass. Not hard or thumping bass. I set the Main Volume to 10 percent high and keep the sub volume at the notch or a little lower (My Windows volume is set at 50 percent high) and ITS still Loud! Rocks my home! Also, like having controls on main sat for bass and volume to adjust sound. BTW I was able to get speaker while they were on sale!!!!!
I want to point out that I am using a Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer Fata1lty Pro sound card and; using the SB software I am able to adjust my tremble and EQ settings etc. Having a high end sound card really brings out the full sound of these speakers! Highly recommend getting a high quality SC to go with speakers!!!
THX certified is another plus! I have one speaker on my desk and the other speaker on a bookshelf. Speaker wire is long enough to go behind my desk and wall to reach my bookshelf.
One final thought: There are many good reviews and not so good reviews about the Klipsch Promedia system. There have been some defective products but that should not reflect on the hundreds/thousands of klipsch speakers that are EXCELLENT! I recommend purchasing the extented warrenty and YOU will have peace of mind about your investment. I believe that these speakers can give you many years of listening enjoyment--providing that you take "excellent" care of them!!
PS. Others have mentioned that On/Off switch is not in a good place due to it being on the sub. I recommend using a Indoor Plug-In Switch ( Cooper Wiring Devices-- Google) that can be used to power on and off the sub/speakers. This switch is plugged right into your surge protector etc (DO not plug the switch into a wall outlet! You just might have a power surge and fry your sub/speakers). Just flip the switch--- problem solved!!! Good night !
What's great about it: High Mids and Lows, Rich bass, Easy setup, and GREAT sound!
What's not so great: Permanent speaker wire
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am completely blown away by these speakers - crisp clear treble and midrange, booming bass - easy volume control including subwoofer to give just the right amount of bass. These were meant to be just 'computer speakers', but they fill my entire basement with fantastic sound. If these are anywhere close to your price range, buy them - you will be glad you did!!
What's great about it: Sound is awesome!!
What's not so great: Price might be high for some, but they are worth it.

I don't post product reviews often unless I buy an exceptional product.
I'll make my review short and sweet.
I purchased this speaker (Pro Media 2.1) system back in 2002. It sounded great then but I moved in 2006 and the movers lost the subwoofer.
I used a pair of Bose Desktop speakers for about 2 years and was tired of the low bass and almost non-existant dynamic range.
I finally got tired of the Bose / gave them to my brother and got a set of these Klipsch on sale.
Man, it is too bad I suffered for 2 years listening to lousy speakers. My suggestion is buy these; test drive 'em and if you don't like them return to store. You just have to hear these speakers to believe the sound quality.

Great sound and power. I was very surprized by the sound and power. First speaker system i have ever owned that you have to reduce bass because of its power!
What's great about it: Power
What's not so great: Power button not on speakers. in back of Sub
