Pretty, but has issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Frigidaire Freezer/Refrigerator in a panic as my freezer suddenly stopped working. I was surprised that most stores in my area did not have upright freezers on the floor, and I needed to select my freezer online.
The upright freezer looked to be exactly as what I wanted. Right height and width, stainless steel, and plenty of room inside. The fact that it could be used as a freezer or a refrigerator was a definite plus, and it could be delivered within the week.
I am so glad it is in my basement. Although it is pretty, it is very noisy. The magnetic slosure is so strong that it takes 3 strong jerks to get it open. This, in effect, moves the freeezer out of position every time it is used, and must be repositioned every time after closing. For this reason, it would not be good to use as a refrigerator, as the jerking and repositioning would be sure to create spills and messes inside. The second shelf is of plastic and very narrow. It's a perfect place to keep flatbreads and tortillas, but even that little weight causes it to sag.

With your new appliance, modern, high-efficiency compressors operate much faster than older models. The compressor may have a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound. These are all normal sounds and soon will become familiar to you. The sounds indicate your appliance is operating as designed. Hard surfaces, such as vinyl or wood floors, walls, and kitchen cabinets may make sounds more noticeable. It is normal to experience a vacuum like suction from the freezer door. When the freezer door is opened, warm air rushes inside. When you close the door, all the warm air rushes to the evaporator which causes a vacuum. This will cause the door to be hard to open for about 10 to 15 seconds after closing. Hopefully, this helps.
