I put this album on when I need to unwind and grease up my gears. This album is incredibly mellow, and very beautiful. I loved his take on Mona Lisa since I grew up listening to Nat King Cole, and Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me) was incredibly touching as well. I highly, highly recommend this album to anyone who needs a little wind down from a stressful day. My friend has this album too and her toddler daughter constantly asks for the "pretty music" and I certainly couldn't have put it better myself.
What's great about it: Beautiful music, wakes up your nostalgia

I really like Harry Connick Jr. and the way he sings. He sings a great variety of different songs which most everyone can recognize and most likely sing along to. His voice is so soft and soothing. It's a great way to relax at the end of the day.

I've always been wild about Harry, but this album is mellower than his usual. Well crafted and easy to listen to, it sets a relaxing vibe that someone with a hectic life can appreciate. It provides unique versions of popular songs from the last 5 decades. 'Close to You' is my particular favorite.
What's great about it: easy listening mellow music
What's not so great: Not exactly what I'd call 'peppy'

This is a departure from the Harry Connick Jr I usually hear. It is a much slower paced album than what he usually delivers. This CD has more of an easy listening vibe to it. My favorite song is "Who Can I Turn To?". If you are a fan, you won't want to miss this.

I have to admit that although I have always enjoyed seeing HCJ perform on tv, I have never bought a single cd of his. I was excited to get this, my first HCJ cd. I hope, as others have reviewed, that this does not represent the quality of other cd's. I felt like I was listening to my mother's music (although I have to admit she will probably enjoy it very much). Within the first 10 minutes I had moved from my computer to my couch and was nearly asleep. I had to stop. If that's what easy listening does it's a good sleep aid for me. After reading other reviews I went back and finished the cd. "Smile" is one of my favorite songs, and I love it in just about any form. I am really glad I went back and listened, but I don't know if I will ever be the kind of person who enjoys this type of music. Still enjoy watching Harry perform though!
What's great about it: Good background, dinner party, put the baby to sleep music

Overall, his renditions of these classics are fine, but did they really need to be re-done again? I’m not hearing anything really different on them and they all seem very slow. I think Harry is a true talent and I always like to be surprised with his creativity in his arrangements but something is lacking here. There’s just not that “Harry” personality in these songs with the exception of “Your Song”.
In terms of the other songs, I enjoyed “All the way”, “The way you look tonight” and “Your Song” and I thought Besame Mucho was interesting in that is goes from Spanish to English. I hated “Just the Way You Are” though.
I'm a bit disappointed by this one, but I think it probably has that mass appeal and will sell well, especially for those looking for a Christmas present for mom or grandma.
