People I called had trouble hearing me. I could not call Canada as advertised, only got a busy signal. I prepaid $10 to try out the international calling but it wouldnt work. Returned unit to store but Ooma will not refund the prepaid as per their policy I guess. Whether it works or not, they keep the money
What's great about it: easy to set up
What's not so great: quality is inconsistent at best. Cant count on it.

Love the product, ease of use and setup, and web features….but. After a two minute setup from the time you open the box the next step is where I had the problem. You must call OOMA and setup the new account number and activate the unit when a local area code can not be found online. When making the first call I could not understand the spoken words of the representative. On my third call I was somewhat able to understand her. When requesting an area code I was informed that the only one would be located some 5 hours away on the other side of the state. They stated that numbers might become available in a month or two and they would place a work order to requesting it. 30+ days later still no answer to the issue. Looks like I am stuck with the strange # from the other side of the state. People constantly ask me for my local number instead of my Ooma ASSigned one. Since the number MIGHT change, I am hesitant to give this one out. Other then this issue I would have given 5 stars.
What's great about it: Features, price of operations, setup, and use.

We have had our OOMA device and service for about 1.5 years and have had no problems. The price of the unit is high, but it easily makes up for it with no monthly service cost.

When Ooma started out a few years back, they were pitching "free" phone service. The government regulators have since caught up with them, and new customers must now pay a $11.75/year regulatory fee after the first year of use. Not free any more, but pretty darn close. (BTW, Ooma doesn't get this money -- it's a tax.) With this "basic" level of service, you get virtually unlimited calling in the US (I think there is a 5000 min/month limit to prevent commercial use), and incoming caller ID (number only). Some people have complained that features such as voice mail and caller ID name are not included in the "basic" service, but try getting phone service for under $1 a month from any other POTS or VoIP provider!
What makes Ooma great for me is the Premier service. You get this service FREE for 60 days after you activate your Telo, and it runs $120/year thereafter. For $10/month, look at what you get: * "Instant" Second Line (during a call, anyone else in the house can pick up another handset and get a fresh dial tone) * Caller ID w/Name * Enhanced Voice Mail with web/remote access, email notification, etc. * Multi-Ring and Call Forwarding * Call Screening and "Do Not Disturb" functions * BLACKLISTS! Add a number to your personal blacklist and they'll never ring through again! There is also a "community blacklist" with known telemarketers blocked. * Customer Support via forums, email, and telephone * Free Number Port OR Free Handset
The Ooma Telo itself is one stylish box. I love the black finish and the cool blue glow! Set up was easy -- plug it in between your broadband modem and your router/computer, and it configures itself for your network automatically. You can also place the Telo behind your router (but then you should probably configure router QoS to give voice traffic higher priority than data). I've tried it both ways, and the Telo works great -- I get great call quality even with concurrent internet use. If you are considering replacing your current home phone service, you should strongly consider Ooma. I've used Comcast digital voice, Vonage, and AT&T CallVantage VoIP services in the past. Despite the up-front equipment cost, Ooma offers better features and great call quality at a MUCH lower overall cost. I'm VERY happy with Ooma!
What's great about it: Plug & play, great voice quality, calling features w/premier, cheap VoIP
What's not so great: touchpad buttons lack tactile/audio feedback

Certainly is cheaper than Magic Jack which requires a PC to be on at all times.. $4/month in my area for the basic service, and thats just the Taxes.. The premium service is $10/month.. Certainly cheaper than Vonage.. The sound quality is awesome on my internet connection, I have a 30Mps DL 3Mps UL.... I have a Time Warner Turbo boost Roadrunner ISP. I wouldn't suggest a slower connection. The sound quality is only as good as the modem/router can spare free data.. I have a Netgear N600 which is an awesome device too.. I also have the ooma handset.. Its black and white on the screen but easy to use.. $30/yr or so is not a bad Phone Bill.. Get this device, it does have a $$ back promise.
What's great about it: Simple to setup, dirt cheap bill. doesn't need a pc on like Magic Jack
What's not so great: Why all the other VOIP's can't be this cheap??
I would recommend this to a friend!

WOW I'm Impressed! I purchased this Ooma to Replace my "Home" line from my are U kidding me on the price VERSE. Originaly, I was thinking of buying the Updated Version of Not Quite MagicJack because I had used the original version before. But, as I was looking at the various options, I remembered seeing the TV Commercial for Ooma and, saw on BB's website that It got good reviews *A big THANK YOU to the others that reviewed this Item.* Ooma was super easy to Set Up and Activate all you need is a web browser - No software to install - takes less than 15mins - After that no computer is required! SOUND QUALITY is as good or better than U-verse. The Line Connect and Disconnect when making a call is much faster. And, after the initial device cost MUCH cheaper! Oh and FYI - I generally do NOT leave reviews but, I liked this product so much, I felt is was the right thing to do - I was that satisfied!
What's great about it: Easy to set up, Sound Quality is Great!!
What's not so great: You have to get online and cancel the Trial for the Premier Service after

Been working great, only had it about a week but zero complaints, saves me $35 a month!
Easy to set up. You can also hook it up to your house wiring so that you can use any phone in your house (have to discount the phone company wiring for it to work.)

The Ooma Telo box was easy to install. The voice quality is excellent. The basic free features are adequate. So you don't need to pay for the upgraded features. The upgraded features are great but you have to pay for them. Two of my relatives have said that they have tried to call and they got busy signals or the call went to voice mail. I am not sure why this has happened because there is call waiting included in the basic features.
What's great about it: Easy to install and Excellent voice quality
