Spacious, quiet, fresh look

We love this unit - it is quiet & spacious in refrigerator AND freezer areas, and has an appealing look. The extra door shelves are perfect as well.

We have had it very short time but so far cooling is great and quiet which was a big problem with our old Fridge. It came in white whick I love.

Configuration could be better

I had the 30cf GE side-by-side fridge/freezer which I loved but could no longer find the compressor part that now needed replacing. The configuration of that s/s fridge/freezer was the best I have ever encountered and this seemed similar albeit 4cf less. I learned that the freezer compartments are significantly more shallow than they appeared in pictures online -- and the same for the door compartments of refrigerator side. I don't know why any sensible engineer sees the value in raising the deli drawer so it creates shelf storage beneath it that is obstructed from view and cumbersome to reach/access. This was configured better stacked on top of the fruit/veggie drawers in my former model. I wish I paid the extra $1000 to get the 4cf better configured and deeper shelved model of my prior GE Profile product. It's a shame that sensible engineering regarding layout and depth of shelving suffers because of less thoughtful talent in the design department. The ice maker performs like a champ but I lost significant storage there as well because GE opted to leave taller space/fewer shelves available. I also don't like that I have a deceptively shallow wire basket at bottom of freezer that can barely hold 1.5 qt containers whereas I had a full depth basket that could hold two the breadth/girth equivalent to 2 full gallons of milk in my prior model. The curved front doors make this always appear the doors are ajar and it rolls back every time you open/close - in my home this keeps the appliance sliding backward into the custom cabinetry it sits inside.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
