You need flood insurance with this

Had this fridge for about 4 years. Never could get it leveled properly without using plastic shims. Door edges never lined up properly. But most of all, every time I changed the water filter the water continues to run. Obviously this creates a mess all inside the fridge and all over the kitchen floor. I order to change the filter I have to shut off the water and unplug the fridge. Yes, I always use GE replacement filters and not some cheap knockoff.
Just this morning, I tried changing the filter without shutting the water to no avail.
I experienced a large water fall until I could move the fridge out and get to the water shut off.
Never again will I purchase a GE product.
Already ordered my new fridge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nothing but trouble

Since we bought this unit the circulating units behind the back wall of the freezer were replaced TWICE because the the refrigerator and freezer temperatures would not hold at settings resulting in a loss of food. When those repairs did not fix the problem, the mother board has had to be replaced, Yet it continues to be so annoyingly NOISEY to be a distraction in our home. Already looking to get rid of it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The ice maker

The refrigerator side is awesome and the freezer side freezes things, however, the ice maker is a piece of junk. Parts continuously break off into the ice tray and get dispensed. In need of constant repair.

Bad Purchase

We've had this fridge for 6 years. Parts starting not working (freezer light) 3 years ago. The drawers keep cracking and breaking. Now the ice machine is broken. I found a very sharp piece had broken off and was in the ice drawer. I could have sliced my hand open! I'm very disappointed that every time I open the door, I find something new that's broken. This was a Consumer Report recommended buy when I was searching for a new fridge. This was a horrible choice for me.

Last GE refrigerator for our home.

This refrigerator is a total disappointment. The actual finish appears to be very thin so it Is nearly impossible to look and keep clean. The external water dispenser often drips and typically Drips down the front leaving it looking dirty and streaky. the front doors have needed to be adjusted more than once. The interior door shelving is poorly constructed and the Replacement part was expensive. The worst is that it is too noisy overall. Now as it’s past warranty it has gotten even louder, appears to come from the freezer area. Cleaning it, has not worked. this appliance has not been abused nor lacked proper care in Our home. A home filled with GE appliances. Overall, if I could I’d replace it but cost is a factor thus I am Stuck with it for now. So Disappointed in this purchase.

We'd like to assist you with your refrigerator. It is not unusual to see a few drops of water dripping from the dispenser on your refrigerator after having dispensed water. This is caused by pressure on the water line and changes in temperature causing some condensation to form and drip.

Longevity

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have owned this unit for over 10 years now and it is still going strong. We moved it from Texas to Washington State and can't be happier with the performance. The freezer capacity could be better, but we have just purchased a GE upright freezer and are looking forward to the same stellar performance and longevity!
I would recommend this to a friend!
