Not as good as our old GE

Overall we are pleased with our purchase of this new fridge. The slate color looks nice as we are not big fans of stainless but were after a modern look that has more resale value.
Pros: The drawers open and close smoother than our previous model. The door bins are a little larger. The door "can holder" is a nice accessory but it will only mount in the highest position which is not ideal for us.
Cons: The upper light fixture is positioned in a way where it protrudes down significantly reducing the tall items that can be stored on the top shelf. Also it is in the way when you try to pull something from the back and lift it over front items. Annoying design. Because it is designed this way it seems the engineers over compensated by lowering the top shelf upper limit where it affects the use of space for all shelves below. The freezer ice maker drawer has a convenient feature with a hinged door that allows you to reach in and grab some ice if needed. However it sacrifices the shelf space that used to be above the icemaker. Overall the design does not allow for the best use of space.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE. EVERYTHING WORKS SMOOTHLY, INCLUDING ICE MAKER AND WATER ON THE DOOR. LOVE THE FINISH TOO! LOOKS GREAT IN OUR NEW KITCHEN!

The Slate color and texture is simply marvelous - real easy to keep clean. I truly enjoy the easy access to the "on" and "off" switch on the ice maker - it helps to deter the condensation problems I've heard of on other units.

Saw this refrigerator with the range, dishwasher, and microwave and had to have the set for the kitchen project we were planning. From the storage on the inside and door to the convenience of the ice maker gives us everything we need, and looks good too.

I replaced the my 15 year old GE refrigerator with this new model.My previous unit is very similar in style and size. Since I had the older model I can appreciate the changes.I like the hidden hinges and contoured doors. Being more energy efficient is also a plus.LED lighting is also a nice change.

Replaced a 15+ yr old different brand. Used Consumer Reports to help make decision on the purchase. New GE is very quiet, much much more energy efficient, keeps a constant temp in both sides, makes a lot of ice quickly, dispenses water and ice great and fit perfectly in the space that held the 19 cf old refrigerator. Lighting is bright, glass shelves are spill proof, water filter is accessible and easy to change. Very happy with this GE side by side refrigerator-freezer!!

Attractive and Functional

This refrigerator is a replacement for another GE of similar quality. The price of this refrigerator is fair for the features it has. We are very happy with this replacement but it is only a couple of days in service.
