It's no Shawshank, but I'd probably rank it a solid second among Darabont's King adaptations. It feels its three-hour length, and the apparent messaging that even "good" officers of the law are bound by the rotten system that condemns innocent minorities is, speaking generously, troublesome, but it's fantastically acted throughout, especially by then newcomer Michael Clarke Duncan, may the great chocolate hulk rest in peace.
