I can't say for sure (we've only used it for a few weeks). I'm guessing the answer is no (it comes with a scraper and typically, you only see frost free in the more expensive units).
You do get some ice/frost build up inside the freezer, but they provide you with a scraping tool to easily scrape it off. Unlike most compact refrigerator/freezer's I have owned, this Haier refrigerator doesn't develop those big chunks of ice build up. This one is easy to clean. I have owned this fridge for about 2 months and it works great.
The bottom part of the back is open. This seems to be designed to specifically vent the heat generated by the compressor. I would not cover the back of the fridge (I think it would over-stress the fridge and most likely lead to premature failure).
Just like your full size refrigerator, the back should be open to allow for ventilation. I have never seen any refrigerator of any size that had the motor area covered.
33 7/8 inches (here's the link to the specifications - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/haier-3-3-cu-ft-compact-refrigerator-virtual-steel/1310126.p?id=1218249066508&skuId=1310126&utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=Default&utm_source=AskAndAnswer&utm_content=Default).
It vents from the bottom of the back (the bottom 12 inches of the back is open which is where the compressor is). It seems to vent fine. My son has the fridge in a corner of his dorm with about 3 inches of space in the back and it seems to vent just fine.
Not really; we bought model HNDE03VS (not from Best Buy), it is complete JUNK, frig failed in like 11 months, company service was terrible, they did not care. Complete waste of food and money, find another brand and a better warranty or service or something, but avoid Haier products.
Yes, it vents via the exposed motor in the back. Also, the sides of the unit get a bit warm when cycling. However, once it gets up to the temperature and stabilizes, it usually doesn't cycle on much.
It says its not availabe in any of the places in Los Angeles… So I was wondering if you could ship one in to one of the Best Buys near me then I can pick it up myself.
I think they can ship for you cause LA is a huge place! They successfully found where I am (it's a narrow and quite place). So no big deal of it really, all you need is to contact the seller to explain your situation. Hope this helps you.
I have not tried using this particular fridge outdoors but this is very similar to a fridge that I have installed in my outdoor ramada. I would expect this fridge to perform well outdoors providing it is installed in a protected area (i.e. under an outdoor barbeque counter or some other covered area that keeps it directly out of the elements).
It could be, however I would try to maintain the seal. In past experience with Mini fridges that are used out doors the first thing to fail is the seal, it will either dry out and crack or become warped.
