What is the range from the base for the phone to function, i.e. say I was out in the yard and the base was in the house, would the phone be functional?
The satellite phones still need to be near an outlet if you want to charge up the phones. I am assuming that vertical distance does not affect the signal. We have 3/4 of an acre and get coverage almost all the way to the end of the yard. Should cover the second floor of a house.
Yes..both handsets need an electrical outlet BUT each can be on a different floor. I have the main base in the basement and the extra base in the livingroom above.
I would say that I am about 99% sure it will not reach any further than maybe 1000 feet from the base station. If you want three mile buy a good citizen band two way radio and have make sure there is a good line of sight between the two radios.
Leah - For assistance, a model number is required. If the base does not have an answering system, it is likely you have VOICEMAIL, which is administered through your service provider, so you'll need to contact the provider for help.
Are the bases sturdy or easily flip over as most of the others do? Are there any phones with sturdy bases? They are all made from cheap light plastic that easily flip over....thanks!
The main base of this unit is fairly sturdy. We have a seven and four year old and it does not get tipped over very often. The satellite phone bases are rather light and tip over easily. We have them in remote areas of the house so they don't see a lot of traffic. I believe all three bases can be wall mounted, which might ease your fears.
They are lightweight, but do not seem flimsy. I have them leaning against the desk back. When I moved the base with the phone to the middle of the desk and removed the telephone, the base did not tip. Don't know if this is helpful to you. Not certain what would happen under other circumstances.
Yes. Your answering machine needs to be connected to your telephone line. If you only have one wall jack, obtain a duplex splitter to give you the additional jack to connect your answering machine.
Voicemail is a feature from your service provider. Typically, you dial a designated access number that your provider gives you, then possibly enter a PIN code. Contact your provider for details.
