The answer of "trial version" is wrong regarding the Surface and Surface 2.
All "Windows RT" versions of Surface, which are the non-Pro versions and include Surface 2, come with the a fully licensed version of Office 2013 RT. This version is similar to Office 2013 Home & Student edition with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and my personal favorite, OneNote. The one major difference I am aware lf is that VBA macros are not supported in the RT version. I use Office 2013 frequently (nearly every day) on my 1st Gen Surface RT (now branded "Surface" by Microsoft.) I use Excel often. Create or edit PowerPoint decks. Write documents with Word. Use Outlook for calendaring and emails. I use OneNote the most...mainly the touch version of OneNote.
