There is a serial number break in that series. Look on the back of the device where is shows the model number. If it says 2555LMT on the unit itself then you have embedded traffic. If it says 2555LM then you need to have a GTM traffic cable. ~JH
Do I need to purchase a new power cable? One with the traffic receiver "swell" in the cable? If so, how can they advertise lifetime traffic info with ou the receiver cable?
There were two versions of the nüvi 2555LMT. One of them had the traffic sensor in the power cord, the remade versions have it built into the unit. If the serial number of the nüvi 2555LMT starts with "2LQ " then it had traffic, it is just embedded into the device itself and not the cord. ~JH
Here is a link with an adapter that should work for this Garmin, http://bit.ly/19pqa4x . You are able to check and see if this adapter is available in your local Best Buy store by clicking on the Check Stores link.
hate to say this, but with the updates you just never know. It may say one thing, but mean another. I have had some updates that took hours, and others that took a few minutes.
