I've gotten anywhere from 2 hours to 6½, it really depends on what you're doing with it.
the Q500A-BHI7T05 has an i7-3632QM CPU, this features "Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology" which is an advanced means of enabling high performance while meeting the power-conservation needs of mobile systems.
While conventional Intel SpeedStep® Technology switches both voltage and frequency in tandem between high and low levels in response to processor load. "Enhanced" Intel SpeedStep® Technology allows for the separation between Voltage and Frequency Changes, and Clock Partitioning and Recovery.
Basically, the CPU's speed and power consumption is altered based on what the user is actually doing.
Windows 8 takes great advantage of this CPU's capabilities... stay within the confines of Windows 8 Modern GUI and your system will last those 6 or so hours, its when you go in the traditional Windows Desktop that you will begin to lose battery life faster.
I've been able to watch a 2½ movies within Modern, but only barely getting through a single movie via the Desktop.
