The first question I’m not sure but to answer the second question, the difference between the HP-60 and the 60XL is that you can copy more on the XL. It’s more expensive but it will save you more money in the long run.
I wouldn't try an ink cartridge in a printer unless the printer specifically says that it uses it. You can damage the printer and void the warranty by using a product improperly.
That said, check google.com and list the ink cartridge name and you should see a list of printers that that ink cartridge is good for.
The HP Deskjet F2483 does not support the HP 121, this HP Printer only support the:
HP 60 Black Ink Cartridge (CC640WN) HP 60XL Black Ink Cartridge (CC641WN) HP 60 Tri-color Ink Cartridge (CC643WN) HP 60XL Tri-color Ink Cartridge (CC644WN)
It is listed right on the new packaging that it replaces the 901 cartridge. HOWEVER, it won't really work. I bought a 60 color cartridge and my J4580 errors out with "Incompatible Cartridge"!! Thanks HP!!!
