Sony recently increased the price but the card should still work. I recently purchased the lower priced one just after thanksgiving and it worked for me.

psn plus on ps4 was originally $49.99, sony raised the price to $59.99. i have no idea what your saying is $39.99. however the $49.99 cards are the same and i purchased one last month and used it to renew my subscription.

I don't think so. I actually picked up the $49.99 (2016) card and $59.99 (2017) card and compared the 2 and it was the same. Sony apparently has aligned their membership cost with Microsoft.

I ordered these for gifts and they have been shipped. Noticed the 'store only item' for $0.00 on my order today. Closet store is hours away and want to make sure they are activated when I get them. Customer service couldn't tell me what it means.

It possibly shows no value due to when it is in store it has no value until activated. Store should have activated them as they shipped to you. Hope that sheds some light on the situation.

If they were a "store pick-up" item then once they are picked up they will be activated. If you are having it shipped to your house, then the warehouse will activate before shipping. Just scratch off the hidden code (carefully)on the back of the card and enter it in the Playstation Store of your system under "redeem code"

Playstation plus, is a subscription with sony, similar to xbox gold. It's required to have PlayStation plus in order to access online playing on any ps4. Also, it will give you some PlayStation store discounts, and 2 free games each months. Free games are not the best.
PlayStation network cards, is like PlayStation gift card. It has money inside that can be use on the PlayStation store to buy games, rent movies, avatars, buy in game content or games add ons.

The PlayStation plus cards are 3 or 12 months subscription cards. The. PlayStation cards have money on them so can purchase any of there products and/or services online in the PlayStation store.

Network Cards: Sonys form of currency; exactly like Microsoft Points for Xbox One & Xbox 360. Another example is iTunes gift cards. Network cards are used to buy digital goods on Sonys Network store (i.e. Video Games, Movies, etc).

The price you pay for the service doesn't matter. If you purchase a year of plus at $25, you're still going to get a year of service. I'm still using codes I purchased 2 years ago for half off.
