"Mary" MJB's fourth effort is one of her most underrated works to date. Mary dug even deeper on this record and in doing so, revealed so much more growth and greater perspective to what being a REAL artist is all about: TRUTH. Everything from the album's simple but strong album cover of MJB's face in side profile, down to the LIVE instrumentation on the deeper cuts like the soulful "The Love I Never Had" should tell you, that she didn't come to play any games. There is a richer maturity on this album and a mix of genres, which might have made it hard for some, to feel what she had to say this time around. There is still an element of Hip-Hop here on the album's dreamy opener "All That I Can Say" penned by Lauryn Hill (she also sang background vocals on the track) and the night-drive worthy "Sexy" featuring Jadakiss (which samples Michael Jackson's "I Can't Help It"), but Hip-Hop doesn't take the wheel on this album, which is what makes it a stand-out. Mary shares some of her influences and other musical tastes in the revealing "Deep Inside" (which samples Elton John's "Bennie and the Jets") and her love of jazz on the warm and joyful "I'm In Love" (featuring Betty Wright on background vocals). MJB showcased the power of LIVE instrumentation on many of the deeper album cuts like "Give Me You" (penned by Diane Warren and also features Eric Clapton) and the aforementioned "The Love I Never Had", such instrumentation is MISSING in today's R&B unfortunately. As far as themes go Mary delivers with the fed-up with each other duet (with then off and on lover K-Ci-Hailey) on "Not Lookin'" and a lover having a child outside of the relationship with another woman "Your Child" which plays like a dramatic confrontation/realization of ills. MJB should have won more attention for this project because of the level of honesty portrayed throughout the 14 songs.

Mary J. truly is the queen of Hip-Hop Soul! "Share My World" (the follow up to her astounding sophomore LP "My Life") is one of Mary's best and most important albums in her legendary catalog. With this record, Ms. MJB serves nothing but pure excellence and dedication to crafting Soul music splendor, when blended with Hip-Hop. She displays with the ultimate feminine finesse, what vulnerability in love not only sounds, but FEELS like. One of MJB's biggest strengths is her blessing to emote so deeply through her voice. This record will have you ready to pour one on and just vibe or run a warm bath and unwind or get real honest with that special someone, who hasn't been treating you so special lately. She taps the ORIGINAL Queen Bee and close friend at the time Lil' Kim for the bumpin' "I Can Love You", Nas for the anthemic "Love Is All We Need" and R. Kelly for the sultry "It's On". Also, she delivers a stunning take on her cover of Natalie Cole's "Our Love" which stands just as tall as Cole's original. In truth the whole album is INCREDIBLE and should be in your collection if you're a fan of 90's R&B! Now take that invite to share her world and go get this today!
