This wonderful CD provides the listener with the original motion picture soundtrack of the. critically acclaimed movie "La La Land" starring (doing their own singing and dancing) Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. For those who saw the movie, the songs enable the listener to visualize memorable scenes from the movie (such as "Another Day of Sun" which brings back the critically acclaimed opening scene on the traffic clogged L.A. freeway), and the wonderful "City of Stars" and "Lovely Night". For those who have not seen the film this CD is also well worth owning because of its wonderful songs. Hopefully, the box office success of La La Land will revive the original movie musical genre that was so popular with Hollywood producers in the 1950s.

For those who lived through the "Jackie" era, the DVD " Jackie" brings back memories of the JFK/JACKIE Camelot era (or what later came to be referred to as the "Camelot Myth") as it focuses on Jackie Kennedy before, during, and following the 1963 assassination of JFK (with emphasis on the period after JFK's assassination).The DVD can provide a younger generation of viewers a glimpse of the massive media attention Jackie attracted before and after her reign as First Lady. Natalie Portman is excellent and highly believable in the starring role and received a well deserved Oscar nomination. She makes you believe that she is indeed "Jackie".

Hacksaw Ridge, starring British actor Andrew Garfield (who is excellent) is well worth seeing.--not only because of its excellent acting, cinematography, and screenplay, but also because of its subject matter.The movie tells the little known true story of WWII American Army medic Desmond T. Doss--a pacifist who turned down a deferment - who risked his life (and sustained serious injury) to save the lives of many of his fellow soldiers on the Asian battlefields in spite of his refusal to carry or use a gun. In recognition of his heroic service on the battlefield (without firing a shot) he received many awards including the Medal of Honor. I definitely recommend this DVD.

Manchester by the Sea, written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan, is not your typical Hollywood "happily ever after" movie. It deals with complex family issues involving tragedy, regret, loyalty, and self-examination. The movie has outstanding well-deserved Oscar nominated performances by Casey Affleck, Lucas Hedges, and Michelle Williams. The DVD is definitely worth owning.

I recently purchased my first smartphones and was concerned that they could easily slip from my hand when using them and become damaged. I observed a passenger on a NYC subway securely holding her smartphone by holding onto a raised "small rubberized knob" attached to the back of the phone. When she finished using the phone she lightly pushed down on the raised attachment and put the phone in her bag. When questioned she told me the attached item was a POPSOCKET which she had purchased on-line for $10 and that it attached easily and securely to the back of her phone. The movie Birth of A Nation:2016 (not to be confused with D,W.. Giffith's 1915 famous ---some would say infamous silent film "Birth of A Nation") is Nate Parker's view of an actual historical event in American history---slave Nat Turner's 1831 slave rebellion. Nate Parker wrote the screenplay, directed, and stars in the movie as Nat Turner. I do recommend this move but I would more highly recommend the 2013 award winning movie Twelve Years A Slave (also based on an actual event in pre-Civil War America).

It's difficult to believe that there have been 5 seasons of this Showtime hit show (with the 6th season just recently begun).lt seems only yesterday that this exciting, fast-paced series began. The storyline continues to be addictive and draws the viewer back again and again. I miss Damien Lewis but the other cast members (especially Clare Danes and Mandy Patinkin) are outstanding.
