Good Quality Cable
on March 10, 2019
Posted by: DRTechNerd

This is good quality cable. It is very well constructed. With cheaper lightning cables, I have had issues with fraying where the cable enters the end connectors. The connectors on this cable are very robust and I do not anticipate having this problem.
I do not have not any connection issues and the cable seems to charge my iPhones and iPad very quickly.
The Belkin Duratek Plus Lightning Cable is a high quality cable, and I highly recommend it.

Good Workout Headphones
on January 12, 2019
Posted by: DRTechNerd

The build quality of these headphones is very good. They are able to be folded up into the included nice rugged case that can be clipped or thrown into your gym bag. They are excellent headphones for work outs. They are snug and do not come off when doing intense workouts. They are lightweight and comfortable. The sound quality is good and the talk-through feature is useful in the gym. The control buttons on the sides of the headphones are intuitive, and easy to operate. They are wireless Bluetooth and I have not had any drop-out issues. The battery charges rapidly and the battery life is good. Overall, these are a comfortable set of great sounding workout over-the-ear headphones and I would recommend.

Good Car Charger with Bells and Whistles
on December 31, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
The Roav SmartCharge Spectrum car charger is a dual port USB charger with a few bells and whistles. The charger is well constructed. The only downside is that it sticks out of the port on my car about 1-1/2 inches, and is easy to deflect back-and-forth when plugging in charging cables. I prefer the lower profile, flush chargers. It seems to charge my iPhone within an acceptable time period. So, it functionally works well as a charger. To utilize the charger’s “bells and whistles”, it requires the installation of an app on your phone. From the app, you can change the color of the LED ring around the edge of the charger, track the voltage of your car battery, and track the location of your parked car. The only downside of the app is that it requires to always track your location which uses about 8 to 10% of my iPhone’s battery in a 24-hour period. If you park frequently in a large parking lot, it would be helpful, but for me, it is an unnecessary drain on my phone’s battery. There are features within the iPhone that accomplish the same thing. Hence, I have disabled the car location feature. Tracking and trending of your car battery/engine voltage is a nice added feature. The ability to change the color of the charger’s LED is also nice, but it will default to red if it is not connected to your phone. Overall, it is a good charger. I would value speed of charging over any of the other extra features included with this charger, and it does well in this area. If its price is within what you are willing to spend, it is a recommended buy.

Great Family/Gaming Computer
on November 30, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
This is a nice entry level gaming PC. It has very capable hardware, and has been able to run the few games that I have run on it without issue or lag. I am also pleased with the startup time of the PC. Once startup is complete, everything loads very quickly. Surfing the web is quick and painless with the included wireless AC network adapter. It also has Bluetooth that I used to connect the PC to a wireless Bluetooth speaker. I did uninstall a few of the included applications, but it does not come with a lot of factory installed bloatware that slows it down. The case is small, looks good, and will not take up a lot of space on your desk. The case has a light bar on the front which is a nice touch that gives it that gaming computer look. The included mouse and keyboard are not the best, but this should not be a deal breaker. Even though I received it at no cost for evaluation purposes, I have enjoyed it so much that I went out and purchased a gaming monitor for it. If it was junk, I would not have done that. I am now using as it my daily use computer…it will surf the internet quickly without issue, it will run email and office applications without problems, and will play most games very well. It would make a great family computer or entry level gaming computer, and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Great Wireless Earbuds
on September 20, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
I have been using these earbuds for about a week and so far they are excellent. They were easy to pair with my iPhone, and I have not had any issues with connectivity. The earbuds are comfortable and I hardly feel them in my ears. The sound quality is good, and the maximum volume level is great for a workout. I have not had any issues with sweat affecting the earbuds. The battery life is excellent, averaging 6 to 7 hours after fully charged. The included charging case is convenient and makes is easy to keep up with the earbuds, and charging cable. You can also press a button on the case that shows the remaining charge in the earbuds which makes it easy to know when it is time for a charge. Overall, these earbuds sound great, fit great, completely wireless, and are perfect for workouts or other physical activities. Highly recommended!!

Great Sounding, Comfortable Headset
on August 19, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
This is a great headset. The build quality is nice and it is very easy to adjust depending on the size of your head. The mic is flexible and easy to position. It is a plus that the mic can be removed when you just want to listen to music, or not use it during gaming sessions. The headset also sounds great. It is one of the better sounding headsets that I have used. The sound is clear, detailed, and engulfing. It is nice to be able to adjust the volume, on the fly, with the headset wire control knob that plugs into the controller. The headset is also lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods. Overall, this is a great headset and I would highly recommend it.

Nice Looking...Decent Perfoming AIO Desktop
on July 24, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
This is my first All-In-One (AIO) desktop computer. Initial impressions are that the computer looks nice, does not take up much space, and has a nice touch screen monitor. It also comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Setup of the computer was very easy. Setup takes less than 5 minutes and consists of attaching the stand then plugging in the power cord. After initial start, it takes several hours to go through all of the Windows updates. While Windows is updating, you cannot do anything else due to the performance impact that the updates have on the computer. Once all of the updates are complete, the computer is fairly slow to boot up. It is much slower than my six year old desktop computer. I would assume that this is due to all of the services running in the background that it requires for the AIO to function properly . After booting up, the speed and performance of the computer is OK…nothing special. For its specs, I would expect that the performance would be a little better than what it is. My son tried to play Fortnite on it and was unable to do so. It works fine for Microsoft office application usage and internet use, but for gaming usage, you may want to look at something else. Also, for anyone thinking about purchasing an All-In-One computer, keep in mind that if some component in the computer fails latter on, such as the wireless internet, USB port, Ethernet port, video card, touch screen monitor, memory module, etc., it will be more difficult and more expensive to replace parts on these type computers. But for anyone looking for a good, basic computer for office applications and internet use that looks nice, is extremely easy to use, and does not take up much space on a desk, it would be a good computer to purchase.

Good, Basic, Reasonably Priced Smart 4K TV
on June 21, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
The Toshiba 43” 4K UHD TV - Fire TV Edition is a good, basic, reasonably priced smart 4K TV. The picture is great and includes the ability to display HDR content. Sound quality is also good. Setup is pretty straightforward. I did have trouble installing apps following initial setup of the TV. The app installation would hang and I had to power cycle the TV several times before the apps would install. The TV features the same interface and available apps, as the Amazon Fire TV stick. The customization within the main TV interface is very limited. It would have been nice if there was an option to be able to power the TV ON into a given input without having to select the input the home interface first. Most of the time when I turn a TV on, I am not turning it on to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or another streaming app. I am turning it on to watch the evening news or other live TV broadcast, and would be prefer to start up into that input without having to fiddle with selecting the input on the home screen. In other words, it needs to be a TV first and a smart device second. Not the other way around. When first powering up the TV, it has a tendency to lose its 5GHz wireless connection to my home network from time to time, and you will get a connection error on the screen. Maybe these few minors issues can be addressed in a future firmware update. Otherwise, it is a good TV and would recommend it if you are looking for a good 4K smart TV in this price range.

Good Instant Camera, but Film is Expensive
on May 30, 2018
Posted by: DRTechNerd
from Nashville, TN
The camera is a nice reboot to the vintage Polaroid instant camera. Even though the camera is all plastic, it seems to be very well constructed and it looks nice. It is very easy to load the film into the camera. It is also easy to take photos. The internal battery is rechargeable, and its charge life is good. The photos seem a little fuzzy sometimes, and the film is way too expensive. It is like $2 per photo. So if you have a blown shot or if a photo does not turn out how you like, it means expensive film is wasted. It also takes several minutes for the photos to fully develop. So, you will be waiting for awhile between shots to see if the picture turns out good. The camera is nice for what it is, but I prefer my digital camera, and I am not sure if I will ever buy any more film for it.
