Solid Ultra-Thin Phone Grip with a Few Downsides

The Low-Pro PopSocket is similar to the ohsnap phone grip. It seems well made and feels very sturdy. The magnetic grip power is good and the pull out stand is sturdy. The Low-Pro PopSocket is ultra-thin and keeps a low profile on the phone. It feels very different than a regular popsocket and does take some getting used to. I have fat fingers and it was difficult for me to extend the grip. Comparing this to the normal MagSafe PopSocket that I normally use, the flexible membrane of the Low-Pro PopSocket makes the phone feel a lot more floppy in the hand. You seem to feel the weight of the phone more. There is also no way to slip your finger through the webbing of the Low-Pro PopSocket. I also was not able to use the PopSocket phone holder in my truck to hold my phone with the Low-Pro attached. It states that it has charge through capability, but it is charger dependent. I had to remove the PopSocket with the La Crosse charging stand at my bedside. The Low-Pro PopSocket is a solid product and some people will definitely like it, but after using for a few days, I have went back to using my PopSocket MagSafe Kick Out grip.

Great, High Tech, Time Saving, Robot Vacuum & Mop

I have had the Shark Power Detect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop for a few days now, and it seems to be a good robot vacuum and mop. It has all the latest technology and does a good job of cleaning the hard wood and ceramic tile floors in my home.
The Shark Power Detect was easy to set up and requires the installation of a smartphone app. The setup is finalized with the smartphone application where the Shark Power Detect will map your home and determine what areas you have rugs or carpet. Once the home is mapped, you can edit and create room names. You can create a cleaning schedule and set no-go zones in the app. The app will notify you when the clean water tank in the base station needs to be refilled, and when the dirty water or debris containers need to be emptied.
The Shark Power Detect did a good job of vacuuming and mopping my floors. Cleaning is quick and very thorough. It uses UV light to detect invisible stains that other robot vacuums may miss. Once cleaning is complete, it self-empties and automatically cleans and dries the mop pad.
In summary, the Shark Power Detect UV Reveal 2-In-1 Vac & Mop is a well-designed, high tech robot vacuum. It does a great job in keeping my hard wood and ceramic tile floors clean with minimal effort. I highly recommend it.

The Withings BeamO is lightweight and compact. It was easy to set up through the Withings app. It comes with a case, instruction manual, a short USB-A to USB-C charging cable, and a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack converter. The BeamO is simple to operate and has an easy-to-read color display. The display has an auto-rotate feature that allows you to read it depending on how it is being held. The Withings app has demos to guide you through each of the features that the BeamO offers.
The contactless thermometer was easy to use. It is just a quick scan across the forehead and in a matter of seconds, the BeamO will vibrate to indicate that your temperature is ready to view. I found the temperature to be accurate and was comparable to the reading that I got on my ear thermometer.
The BeamO has an integrated ECG where you place your index fingers on small metal contact points on the side of the device. The ECG takes about 30 seconds to complete. I signed up for the free 1-month Withings+ subscription that is included with the BeamO allowing me to submit my ECG to a cardiologist for review. Results came back the next day.

There is also a stethoscope on the bottom of the BeamO that allows you to listen to your heartbeat and lungs with a set of headphones connected to the USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack converter. The screen will guide you on where to press the BeamO against your chest and back to listen. The room will need to be quiet to get accurate readings. The readings can be recorded and shared through the Withings app.
The BeamO has a rechargeable battery, and it only took about an hour to charge. Battery life looks like it is going to be excellent. After a week, the battery is still at 100%.
Overall, the Withings BeamO is excellent. It is accurate, lightweight, portable and easy to use. Highly recommended.

This 3rd Gen Wired Ring Doorbell Pro replaced an existing Ecobee doorbell. The Ring doorbell is leaps and bounds better than the Ecobee. The field of view is outstanding, and it quickly detects people and packages at my front door. The clarity of the video is excellent. The nighttime video is in black and white, but it is also excellent, and you can see about 10 to 15 feet even in complete darkness. There is only about a 1 to 2 second delay between motion at the doorbell and notifications on my iPhone. It was 10 to 15 seconds on my previous Ecobee doorbell.
Installation of the doorbell and setup in the Ring app was easy. The doorbell did not work with my existing mechanical chime, but it came with a small chime that fit into my chime box and wired into the wiring terminals of my chime. The chime is loud enough and did an adequate job of replacing my mechanical chime.

The Ring doorbell comes with a free 30-day trial of the Home Premium Plan. The Premium Plan is fairly expensive, and I plan to subscribe to the Basic Plan, once my free trial is up. I wish it was cheaper, but I did enjoy the 24/7 video recording and the generative AI text descriptions of motion events (e.g., “A brown Amazon box is placed on the porch.”). The AI text descriptions of motion events were surprisingly accurate. I just wish this feature was included in the lower cost plans.
Overall, this is the best video doorbell that I have ever owned. It has excellent video quality, smart motion detection, and responsive performance. Highly recommended.

Excellent Dash Cam with Great Video Quality

The Pioneer VREC-Z820DC is a compact, discrete dash cam that mounts easily behind the rearview mirror. The front camera records in 4K ultra-HD resolution and has a 3.2-inch IPS display screen. It also comes with a rear camera that records in full HD resolution. The package also includes USB cables for the front and rear cameras, a cigarette charger, and a 128GB Micro SD card.
I installed the camera system in my Tundra pickup truck. Installation was fairly straightforward. The instructions were okay, but the writing was small and having older eyes, it was hard for me to read. I would recommend downloading the instruction sheet or following a YouTube video for installation instructions.
There is a QR code on the box to download the dash cam app. Once the app was downloaded, it was easy to connect to and set up the camera. You connect to the dash cam via the app through a Wi-Fi connection on your phone. You can use the app to view/download videos, update the dash cam firmware, and enable/disable dash cam features.
The 4K video footage from the front camera is excellent and has a large 139-degree field of view. Night vision video is also good, and I had no issues making out details during nighttime driving. The HD video from the rear camera is also adequate. The rear camera has a 120-degree field of view.
When video footage is downloaded via the mobile app, it includes a GPS logging feature that records your driving route with the video footage. It is nice having this feature included to show exactly where events occur.
The dash cam also has an Advanced Drive Assistance System (ADAS) that alerts you for lane departure, forward collision warnings, and alerts for stop and go traffic. During initial installation, I enabled all the ADAS features, but after a few days of driving, I turned them off. I found that the lane departure warning did not work. Stop and go alerts did work properly, but the audible stop and go traffic warnings became annoying. I never tested the forward collision warning, and it never sounded while I was driving.
Overall, the Pioneer VREC-Z820DC is an excellent, compact dash camera. Video footage quality is very good and easy to access through the app. There is room for improvement with the Advanced Drive Assistance System, but hopefully, it can be improved with a future firmware update. The ADAS shortcomings do not detract from the quality of the device, the image quality is great, which is the main thing you want from a camera. Highly recommended.

First Alert Hardwired Smart Smoke Alarm

I have eight Nest Protect smoke/CO detectors that have served me well. The oldest one is about 8-years old. They expire after 10 years. Unfortunately, the Nest Protects have been discontinued and the First Alert SC5 is the official replacement. So, I replaced my oldest Nest Protect with the First Alert SC. It was pretty seamless exchange. The First Alert and the Nest Protect ceiling mounts are the same, and the First Alert comes with a wiring adapter harness that connects your existing Nest Protect wiring to the plug on the First Alert. The First Alert looks good and seems well made. You will need to download the First Alert app and create an account to connect to the smoke/CO detector. You can then link the detector to the Google Home App, so that it is synced with your other Nest Protects, but it will not show up in the Nest app. It does not have the Pathway light that the Nest Protect has. It seems to be a good functional replacement for the Nest Protect, but with the missing Pathway light and not showing up with the other Nest Protects in the Nest app, it is a slight downgrade to what was given with the Nest Protect, so I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars.

The Therabody Thermback LED Back Wrap is a nice product that combines several technologies to relieve lower back pain. As a 50+ year old fellow, it is nice to come home after a long day at work and strap on this back wrap to help relieve my lower back pain. It is comfortable to wear and easy to adjust thanks to several adjustable Velcro straps. I have the ThermBack connected to the app on my iPhone. The device communicates to your phone app through Bluetooth and there are several 20-minute pre-configured backpain relief routines on the app that can be selected. The routines use a combination of heat therapy, vibration therapy, and LED therapy to relieve specific back pain. I have been using the “Lower Back Pain Relief” routine at the end of every workday to help relieve my lower back pain and stiffness. You can also use the ThermBack directly though buttons on the device, but I have found that using it with the app to be easier. The battery life is good at 180 minutes on a single charge, but each treatment routine is 20 minutes and will automatically shutoff and the end of the 20 minutes. You can use the over clothing or directly on the skin. I have found that using it directly on the skin is more effective. The ThermBack comes with a cloth travel case and a short USB-C cable that is used for charging. Overall, I am happy with the Thermback LED Back Wrap, and it has helped me in relieving lower back pain. Highly recommended.

My wife and daughter have completely different hair types: one has short, curly hair, while the other has long, straight hair. They both tried out the Shark Flex Fusion and were happy with the results. They mentioned how convenient it was to have various attachments that made styling their hair easy, even within a limited time. It is easy to switch out the attachments based on their styling needs. This is good because it cuts down on clutter, because there is no need for multiple styling tools when one tool can do it all. There is a switch that allows for both wet and dry hair modes, which helps protect the hair against heat damage. The hair dryer itself is lightweight and comfortable to hold. The only drawback they noticed was that the cord and plug was thick and bulky. While this didn’t affect its overall usage, it did make storage a bit less convenient. All in all my wife and daughter absolutely love the product and would highly recommend to anyone interested. It is one of the best hair styling products that they have ever used.

The Philips 4400 is our second fully automatic espresso machine, having owned the Philips 3200 for about three years. Like the 3200, the 4400 is a super-automatic espresso machine, designed to make espresso and coffee drinks with minimal effort. Simply fill the hopper with coffee beans and the water tank, and the machine handles the rest. It grinds the beans, compresses them into a puck, and pushes hot water through, delivering a perfect espresso with just the press of a button.
The Philips 4400 is a great machine overall, featuring an adjustable ceramic grinder known for its grind quality and lasting sharpness. Compared to the 3200, the grinder is much quieter, which is a welcome improvement. During the initial break-in period, the coffee pucks may come out a bit unformed and watery, but with a little patience, they become compact and well-formed as the machine adjusts.
Once broken in, the machine produces excellent espresso and coffee drinks. It offers 12 built-in recipes, including espresso shots, cappuccinos, lattes, Americanos, iced coffees, and more. The LatteGo milk system is a standout feature—it's easy to clean and ideal for frothy lattes and cappuccinos, taking only seconds to rinse after use.
The color display on the Philips 4400 allows for easy customization of drink recipes, which can be saved to one of two user profiles. This is especially handy if multiple people use the machine and prefer different coffee strengths or milk ratios.

Prior to receiving the GE Profile 2.0 Opal Nugget Ice Maker, we owned the GE Opal 1.0 model. The 2.0 model is significantly better than the 1.0 model. It makes great nugget ice, and it makes it fast. The ice nugget is a little softer than what is produced by the 1.0 model, which is nice. There is a cleanable air filter that keeps debris from accumulating inside of the ice maker. There is also a replaceable water filter that reduces the accumulation of scale buildup in the machine. It comes with a stainless-steel scoop that can be mounted on the side of the ice maker. There is a built in led light that illuminates the ice storage bin. This model is also quieter than the previous model. It is WIFI capable that connects to the GE SmartHQ app on your phone where you can control the ice maker, and set up schedules based on when you want it to run and make ice. Overall, it is a great product and I am extremely happy with it. If you are looking for a countertop nugget ice maker, the GE Profile 2.0 Opal Ultra Nugget Ice Maker would be a great choice.
