It's the early 1960s and fifth-grader Scotty Smalls (Tom Guiry) has just moved into town with his folks (Karen Allen and Denis Leary). Kids call him a dork - he can't even throw a baseball! But that changes when the leader of the neighborhood gang recruits him to play on the nearby sandlot field. It's the beginning of a magical summer of baseball, wild adventures, first kisses, and fearsome confrontations with the dreaded Beast and it's owner (James Earl Jones) who live behind the left field fence. Soon nine boys have become best friends, Scotty is part of a team, and their leader has become a local legend in this hilarious and warmhearted comedy.

Macaw! This movie was actually inspired by a blue Spix's macaw, a bird name Presley, that passed away at the age of 40. I find it enjoyable to do some background research on a movie to see why it was created. Then, while watching it, you have a little more appreciation for the movie. A very delightful movie!

Fantastic story with some liberties taken

I enjoyed this movie. There are some liberties that were taken in making the movie in order to make it more "exciting", such as pitting sniper against sniper (which never really happened), but it holds true enough to engage you in the reality of war and to give you some background on the deadliest marksman in U.S. history. The irony is how he passed away after enduring the rigors of the Iraq war.

A fine conclusion to the Hobbit trilogy!

Although some hate the fact that this book was composed of three movies, it does allow the producer to elaborate more on the story, which I personally enjoy. However, doing so does cause more focus on something that viewers may not care for. This movie focuses on the battle, but it's done well that it holds your attention. Also, the movie was shot at 48 frames per second, giving the picture a very clear look (some liken it to a "soap opera effect"), which some love and some hate.

Final Season Extravaganza

If you love Star Trek, you'll enjoy this season set. Although not near as good as the 3rd season, it is composed of many independent story lines that make for a nice deviation from the continuous season 3 story line and plot. When a show gets cancelled, they have to accelerate episodes and find a good ending. This is unfortunate but it has happened.
Pick up this set and keep it for your collector's edition sets. Always remember the great run Star Trek has had and watch these episodes from time to time.
