Works Great! Keeps us cool at games.
on May 8, 2026

This little guy puts out a lot of air and has been perfect for my soccer playing daughter. It blasts out a surprising amount of air for such a small little fan, is compact enough to fit in her soccer bag, and recharges quick.
The battery life is good enough to get her through the day while using it when she’s on the sidelines.
Switching out to the other accessories is a bit of a chore during her breaks from playing, so she mainly uses the fan.
The chill accessory works great when it’s hot. It doesn’t get super cold, but when your skin is hot and sweaty when it’s hotter outside, it feels amazing, especially on the back of the neck.
The mister works well, but runs out of water quickly. Maybe that’s because my daughter shares it with teammates and they run the thing a lot when it’s in mist mode.
So far, I’m very impressed with the ChillPill 3-in-1. I would recommend for anyone on the sidelines or stands as a player or parent for those hot outside games that we keep paying to suffer through!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Cools Well for Small Spaces
on April 3, 2026
Posted by: TheStump
My house in the Southeast (hot summers) has a finished basement with no heating or air. Needless to say, here in the South, A/C is a must in the basement to keep cool and keep humidity low. I had an portable A/C unit that died toward the end of last summer, so I have been on the lookout for a new one for my office in the basement. I wanted a smaller unit that didn't take up too much room. This TCL unit looked like a good solution and so far, I am not disappointed.
The unit is small, cools my 170sqft office well, and the cool air trickles into the adjacent workout room as well. This, combined with a larger unit in the main basement room and a dehumidifier in the unfinished area, will keep my basement cool and dry during the summer months. I was skeptical of a single hose unit because I have always read that dual hose units cool better. So far this unit cools just as well as the larger dual hose I have.
A few bonuses are the app and the fact that the unit completely cuts off once the desired temp is reached. Being able to use my phone to adjust the temp is a nice feature and setup was easy. My other portable A/C units do not stop running the fan once the set temp is reached, using much more electricity.
Another bonus is this unit comes with a decent amount of foam strips of different thicknesses for sealing the gaps in around the window plate. In the past, I've always had to buy foam separately.
A few things I don't like so much:
I had to cut a piece of wood to place in the window under the window plate. The window plate would not sit in the bottom of the window because the hose sits too low. I also had to trim the adjustable window plate to get it to fit.
Neither the unit or the app display the current temperature. All it shows is the set temperature.
The last A/C unit I had only lasted a few years. Hopefully this TCL unit makes it much longer. For now though, I'd recommend this for any small space where cooling is needed.

Works Great, Easy, and Better than my Old One
on April 3, 2026
Posted by: TheStump
I have been looking for a new, affordable Wi-fi 7 router for a while to replace my old Google Wi-Fi mesh system. Why? because ideally I wanted a single router that could cover the same area as my google mesh system without the significant loss in speed that I see with my existing mesh system. From the main hub to the other three nodes with the mesh system, I typically have about a 50% loss in speed, and the mesh nodes are not that far from each other. More recently, I also find that I have to reset the entire mesh network often as it gets bogged down.
I have also read articles stating that Wi-Fi 7 can improve download and upload speeds and make Wi-Fi networks more stable. I have been skeptical, but I'm to the point where, working from home more and more, I need a more reliable Wi-Fi network to access my company's server. Not to mention my kids increasing demands with more online based homework. And we game a lot and stream a lot.
This new TP-Link actually does all it claims and is affordable too. I was able to place it in a central location on the main level of my two story house that also has a finished basement. I have faster, more reliable network. The coverage is excellent and actually extends further outside of my house in the front and back yard than my old mesh system.
So far, I could not be more pleased with this router. It just works. I am good with tech but want things like this to work right out of the box. Set up was easy. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade from an older router or mesh system.

Another Thin Plastic Case - Nothing Special
on November 25, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
I a quite the phone case snob, and am very picky when it comes to my phone case. So this case, to me, is just another thin plastic phone case that is nothing special and does not stand out compared to all of the other plain plastic phone cases.
If all you are looking for is something to keep the back and sides of your new phone scratch free and protect it from drops, I suppose this fits the bill. Also, the magnets work well for wireless charging.
Here's my take on what I look for in a phone case and where this one doesn't measure up:
Grip and Feel - For me, the grip and feel of a case is everything. I like a phone case that has slightly curved sides that are textured. The material should be slightly softer on the sides, like TPU, to assist with grip rather than the standard hard plastic. A case should not have any hard edges or corners that dig into my hand while I'm holding my phone. This Casetify case fails on both accounts. The claim is that is has an enhanced grip. While the sides are textured, the material is all hard plastic which still slips around. The case is also has hard edges with something like a ridge or seam on the left side rear edge. This will absolutely annoy me if I'm holding my phone for a long period.
Other issues - the side buttons are not completely covered, allowing in more lint and dust. The inside of the case doesn't have any soft microfiber like material to protect the back of the phone in the case. What I assume are the wrist strap holes are up at the top, which is a horrible place for to put a wrist strap.
I could keep going, but in summary, I'm not a fan of this case and wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is looking for a higher quality case.

Feels great after a few adjustments!
on November 23, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
I was very skeptical of this Hyperice Normatec Elite Hip recovery tool at first. I already have a Hyperice Hypervolt that has been fantastic for massaging stiff or sore muscles. So I decided to add this to the collection and give it a shot.
I charged it full, read the instructions, adjusted the leg Velcro straps until the device was snug, then started a trial run. At first, all I felt was compression on my legs, not my hips at all. When I bumped up the compression level, I felt too much pressure on my things and no where near the same level on my hips. I tried it multiple times after a workout and felt like I wasn’t getting much out of it.
After a tough leg day workout followed by a run (I hate running and don’t do it much), my leg muscles were screaming. I’m over 40. Stuff aches more. I decided one last try with the Hyperice before giving up on it. Except this time I had the bright idea to loosen up the leg Velcro straps to see if more emphasis on my hips. Lo and behold, it finally worked! I felt much less muscle soreness after one session with the device, and I even fell asleep while it was running. The instructions don’t mention loosing the Velcro straps if the compression is uneven! But it’s a must to get the right balance between hips and legs.
I’m still not too sure it does much for my lower back, but for hip and thigh recovery, it’s amazing! Highly recommended.

Great Little Camera that is Easy to Use
on August 12, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
From setup to placement to the app, I have been impressed with the Blink Outdoor 4 Wireless Camera and hub so far. This is my first Blink camera. I have a few Eufy cameras as well, and have had Arlo in the past. I would say overall, the Blink has superior video quality. However, the Eufy and Arlo cameras are a few years old, so I would expect newer models to have better quality.
Setup was simple. The app works well, with an easy to use interface, and it was able to locate and connect the hub and then the camera quickly. I placed the camera about 100 ft away down by our creek to take videos of passing wildlife. So far all I have is a few videos of deer, but the quality is good during the day and at night.
I cannot yet speak to the battery life, but I do appreciate that it has easy to replace batteries. Depending on how long they last, I may purchase rechargeable lithium ion batteries. Wnen the batteries in the Arlo cameras died, they were costly to replace so I got rid of the cameras. The two Eufy cameras I have are hard wired, so I cannot compare batteries for those two.
The only downside is that the cloud storage costs money after the 30 day free trial. You can also purchase a $15 usb drive for the hub to save files locally, so I will probably go that route once the 30 day trial is over. If I were to purchase additional Blink cameras, I could see the vaule in paying for the monthly cloud service.
Overall, with the easy setup, use, and video quality, I would recommend this camera.

New Roomba, Same Excellent iRobot Product
on July 13, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
So far so good with the new Roobma 105 with AutoEmpty Dock. As I have mentioned in the past, iRobot Roomba Vacuums continue to improve with every iteration. I currently also have the J9+ Vacuum and the 981 Vacuum. The J9+ also has an AutoEmpty, but the new 105 has a much smaller footprint and doesn’t have to ride up a ramp to dock. It simply backs up to the dock, empties out, and continues rolling.
The mapping is a vast improvement. It maps out your house the first time and then shows you the exact path it takes every time it runs. You can see exactly where it cleaned, the back and forth paths, and what was missed so you can adjust for next time if you want a specific area cleaned. You can select specific rooms too and the functionality of the new app is much more user friendly. It also does not get stuck under the couch as much, I guess because it’s either that much smarter, or it can’t go under furniture because of the little head on top.
It picks up a lot of dog hair, dust, dirt, and larger solids too. The brush roll is also different, and I think it will hold up better overtime as it seems to be made of better materials.
The only downside, not with the vacuum, but with the new Roomba Home App, is I cannot control all 3 of my Roombas with a single app. The two older vacuums require the old iRobot app while the new 105 can only be controls with the Roomba Home App. Hopefully they can add support for previous vacuums to the Home app.

Excellent Sound and Super Tough
on July 13, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
The new SoundLink Plus Bluetooth speaker has incredible sound, gets very loud, and is heavy and tough. It’s the perfect size to take on the go, to the pool, beach, sports, back porch or anywhere else we want great sounding portable speaker. The battery life has been just fine for an all day listening session. To compare, I also have the Bose Portable Smart Speaker. The SoundLink Plus actually sounds a little better and a little less muffled right out of the box. With the Portable Smart Speaker, I actually had to turn the bass way down and the treble way up to get a better sound that is not too bass heavy. I’m a guy who likes a lot of bass, but the Portable Smart Speaker gives way too much bass without an adjustment. I don’t have that problem with the SoundLink Plus.
The SoundLink Plus is heavy, but feels super rugged with tough materials. It’s also dust and waterproof meaning I don’t have to worry about it in the elements. The Portable Smart Speaker is only dust and water resistant so I have to babysit it.
If you’re looking for a perfect sized and amazing sounding Bluetooth speaker to take anywhere, I would definitely go for the Plus over the Smart Speaker. However, with either, you can’t go wrong. While I am not as impressed with some of Bose’s headphone offerings, the speakers continue to impress.

Bright headlight shows reveals all!
on June 24, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
So far so good with this new Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal stick vacuum. The suction is great for such a small vacuum. On normal suction level, it’s picking up all the dog hair, dirt, dust, and larger solids. Having the extra elbow allows for easy access under tables, chairs, etc. It automatically senses when you move to rugs or carpet and the brush roller hits a higher speed - it works fantastic, picking up even more dog hair from our two giant pups.
Battery life has been excellent, covering our whole main floor and second floor before needing a recharge. The bin holds a good bit for how small it is, but know a stick vac is not made to handle a lot in the bin and be prepared to empty it a good bit.
The game changer for me is the headlight. It’s super bright and lights up the floor in bright or dark rooms so we can see everything, and I mean everything, on the floor. It’s almost like a blacklight, illuminating things I probably would have never known were there.
The attachments work well, but there is no way to secure them to the vacuum for storage. This is a common theme among stick vacs, and I don’t understand why these manufacturers don’t include on board accessory storage. It seems like an easy and inexpensive feature to add.
Other than that one little downer, this is a fantastic, 5 star vacuum. I’m hopeful this one lasts just like my previous shark vacuums.

The Best Wireless Headphones I've Owned
on May 29, 2025
Posted by: TheStump
I'm genuinely impressed by the Sony WH1000XM6 headphones. The build quality, comfort, sound, noise cancellation, look, and app customization options are all top notch.
I also recently purchased the Bose QC Ultra so I have been able to compare the two. There is no doubt that the Sony's are my favorite, and I've already returned the Bose. The WH1000XM6 are more comfortable, with a better fit for my large head, but they also fit my daughter's head well. The Sony's are also less flimsy and seem more durable, so I'm confident they will last. As for sound, The EQ customization is superior in the Sound Connect app making. They also sound better to my ears right out of the box. The noise cancellation is about the same, but with the Sony's, I have not experienced the "ear suck" that was so bad with the Bose.
With the inclusion of the Find Your Equalizer feature in Sony's Sound Connect app, I was easily and quickly able to dial in the sound to my personal preference. Out of the box, I felt that the bass was a little lacking, but I prefer a bass heavy profile. I have listened to music, shows, and games post EQ adjustment, and all sound spot on, clear, and crisp. I have listened for hours and my ears do not get sweaty and I have not had any ear or head pressure fatigue. The padding is comfortable and not overly thick or thin. It's taking a while to get used to the touchpad controls on the right earpiece, but I think I'll get used to it. You really have to properly tap or swipe to get the right response.
One feature I really appreciate is passive wired mode. I often plug into my Switch or PlayStation Portal, and being able to listen without powering on the headphones is a must for me—something the Bose can’t do.
Adaptive Sound Control is a feature I do not use. I tried it out but it switches modes just getting up off the couch and moving around, so it's a bit much for use around the house. I could see it being useful out and about though. I also do not use the different listening modes. They seem unnecessary.
Battery life has been solid. I haven’t pushed it to the limit, but I’ve listened all day on multiple occasions and only charged them at night. No issues there.
The WH-1000XM6 are, without a doubt, the best wireless headphones I’ve ever owned. Highly recommended.
