I've never seen a movie that's been so unfairly maligned by negative reviews, especially considering that this movie was an absolute joy from beginning to end. After watching it, and reading truly horrible, reviews I'm starting to think that somebody hired a few live bodies to slate this movie for their own specific reasons.
The script, actors and directors captured the feeling of endless possibilities perfectly. The FX were fantastic, there were no lulls in the plot, George Clooney did his thing perfectly, the child actors were incredible, and there were just enough twists and turns to maintain the pace.
Please, please watch this movie and make your own mind up - the negative reviews almost put me off, but I'm so glad I actually took the chance.
Actually there's one proviso here - and is probably something consistent with most of the negative reviews: If you lack imagination, or the yearning for a better world, then you'll hate this movie. Or you want to raise kids who aspire to be nothing more than reality TV actors. Or if you're a reality TV actor. Or your kids can't read or write because you don't think it's important. Or if you think science is dumb. Or if you can't embrace hope.

If you missed this great film in theaters this past summer, it's worth a glance on BLU RAY. While I do wish that there were a commentary on the blu ray, I will be forgiving because it's such a great movie.
Blu-Ray. The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. A twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further. Stars Stefanie Scott, Dermot Mulroney, Angus Sampson, Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell.

As most thrid entries tend to be weakm I walked in with zero expectations and ended up being very pleasantly surprised. This movie was fun, well crafted and extremely entertaining. Being a big fan of the franchise (and of the genre)I was very happy with how this prequel explored the backstory of the psychic/medium and her future "helpers". The effects were great, the different ghosts/spirits/ entities were all different in their background and aspects. The plot was well developed and the jump-scares were well placed. There is no "repetition" from the previous two movies so this movie gained in originality.

I went into this film with fairly high expectations. They clearly were not high enough. This easily matches, if not surpasses the first instalment. I loved the first film, and this is easily the best horror sequel I have ever seen.
The storyline was fantastic, the slightly ambiguous ending of the first film was brought to light nicely, and a deeper more complex meaning behind the haunting was revealed. The full extent of the main plot line was given in chunks, so that I was always kept guessing, right up until the end.
The actors played their roles well, child acting included. The roles were believable, and the characters were portrayed nicely.
The main thing that makes this film (and the first) so good is that it is actually scary. There is hardly any violence, no blood, but they are some of the most jumpy films that I have seen. The lower budget effects are used simply and to great effect. The low key nature of the scares make them all the more believable.
Overall this is a fantastic horror film, and matching the excellent original, if you haven't seen Insidious, see it so that you can see this! If you have seen Insidious, just see this
Young surfer Nick (Josh Hutcherson) thinks all his dreams have come true when he goes to visit his brother in Columbia. Against an idyllic backdrop of blue lagoons and white beaches, he falls madly in love with Maria (Claudia Trasiac). It seems perfect until he meets her uncle, the famous drug kingpin Pablo Escobar (Benicio Del Toro). Nick finds his life on the line when he's pulled into the dangerous world of the family business.

This thriller is a clever blend of a real person Escobar the drug lord and a dramatized semi fictional romance between a naïve Canadian who falls in love with the drug lord's niece in Colombia. You feel you are watching a true story because of the real drug lord.
The action is terrifying and builds up realistically to a climax that has Breaking Bad intensity.
Benicio is totally convincing in this role that is perfect for him. He doesn't over do it which is more effective. Josh Hutcherson is actually very good. It's nice to see him away from Hunger Games as a fresh faced innocent.

This is one of my favorite films released this year. Most teen films only try and reach a teen audience but this one doesn't dumb it down for the audience. This is very well written and highly recomnded.

Magic Mike XXL isn't as good as the original in terms of story but it makes up for it with the eye candy and that's what the LADIES WANT. Pick this one up for your lady and reap the benefits.

Firstly, I find it impossible to mark out any faults with this movie. The soundtrack, plot, acting and on screen chemistry is faultless. Unable to predict the unfolding of the plot, Mel Gibson has directed one of the most gripping and entertaining movies of all time.
Having first watched Braveheart for the first time in the late 90's, It has inspired my entire life. The portrayal of William Wallace's courage and bravery is not only inspirational but also infectious to it's audience. It's twists and turns take you on an emotional roller-coaster that almost has you interacting at points. Everything in this movie is inch perfect. Certain critics of the film have scrapped the barrel in bringing out the 'historical inaccuracy' card however such inaccuracies as an item of clothing are no reason to take credit away from this masterpiece.
Braveheart in my opinion is the greatest film ever made, not only for it's screenplay but the story of one man's passion, determination and courage to reclaim justice to the people of his country.

I originally sat on the fence in my opinion of the theatre release of Alexander, but Alexander Revisited has won me over as admirer of the film. The new cut has a truly epic feel and the leading characters are portrayed with more breadth and depth. In particular, the climactic crises of Alexander's career are conveyed more intelligibly and convincingly than before. I am the author of both academic articles and non-fiction books on Alexander, so I feel I should comment particularly on the historical accuracy of the film. In my opinion Alexander Revisited is notably honest, daring and sincere in its pursuit of historical accuracy. Although Oliver has deliberately conflated events which actually occurred at different times and places into single scenes (I think he had to in order to tell the whole story in a single film), almost everything has some kind of historical basis in the group of 2000 year old accounts, which provide most of our knowledge of Alexander. For example, such details as Cleitus severing the arm of a Persian about to strike Alexander, the incident with the monkeys in India and Alexander's visit to the wounded after the battle are all in the sources. Even that eagle is mentioned by Curtius. Furthermore, many snippets of dialogue are based on words actually said to have been spoken by Alexander: e.g. "He too is Alexander", "So would I if I were Parmenion", "It is a lovely thing to live with courage..." Great attention to historical detail was also paid to the costumes and scenery. Babylon was particularly good - the ziggurat, the flowers and the caged big cats were all really there when Alexander drove into the city in a chariot. Overall, Alexander Revisited gives a more authentic sense of the real history than any other film about the ancient world that I can think of. Gladiator was a great film, but its greatness owed more to Marvel comic strip principles of action and violence than to its setting in ancient Rome. Alexander Revisited is a great film because it tells one of the most compelling human stories in all of history with faithfulness, drama and pathos.
