I have used APC Back-UPS for about ten years. In that time I have had to replace batteries twice and have had to replace each unit about a year after replacing the batteries. One battery back up shorted out and the second one lost output power to the left bank. However, considering the cost of replacing the back up units as opposed to the possibility of having to replace computers, printers, modems, and or routers because of brown outs or surges is minor.

Cost is too high. My previous printer was an Epson 4630 and only lasted one year before having print problems. I waited two weeks past the warranty date before I realized when the warranty was up. I used to like Epson printers as I had several through the years but their quality has gone bad.

I have never had problems with using splitters in the past and I have used them in various situations over the past 40 years.

Is this product shielded, as recommended by Comcast?
No, I did not shield the product. I have no problems with television reception. I do have problems with getting a long distance connection through Verizon occasionally.
