A wild suicide squad adventure

First of all, this is a Suicide Squad movie more so than just a Batman film. Don't expect a ton of Batman or Bruce Wayne with his dark brooding and internal monologues. So know that going into it. With that said, the Suicide Squad is hot right now thanks to their blockbuster film and I feel this animated flick does them justice. In fact, I really enjoyed this movie. It encapsulates a single adventure where the gang is rounded up by Amanda Waller and sent to infiltrate Arkham Asylum with the Riddler being the ultimate mark. Twists and turns abound and there's a ton of suspense around just about every corner. Harley Quinn and Deadshot are heavily featured, so if you're a fan of them, you'll certainly be pleased. There's a simultaneous story taking place between Batman and the Joker which plays a big role in the eventuality of the film. The parts are well acted and the animation is really good too. I purchased this and the Killing Joke animated film at the same time and I have to say I really enjoyed Assault on Arkham the most out of the two. Probably because this film presented a brand new story and I enjoy the kinds of movies like this one that chronicle a one day adventure. Suicide Squad, Harley, Deadshot, Joker, Batman, or even a Killer Frost fan? You'll love this film. KGBeast fan? Well, maybe not. But get it anyway and have an hour-and-a-half of Suicide Squad style fun.

Really good adaptation of a great book

I'm a huge Batman fan and have a pretty decent collection of graphic novels including The Killing Joke. I did something I don't usually do and read several reviews of this film before watching it myself. Seemed like most people didn't think it was very good. Furthermore, people really seemed to dislike the first Act of the movie which sets up Barbara's backstory. Any time you have a critically acclaimed book (graphic novel or otherwise), people get highly upset if you mess with the original material. Doesn't matter to those people if the additions are actually good or not. In my opinion, the backstory was nice. We get to explore a relationship between Batman and Batgirl that provides a fresh take on the subject. There's a lot there to give Batgirl/Barbara more weight and importance to the average viewer who doesn't obsess over the comics like me and others do. Things like this are necessary in film adaptations. Films just don't come off the same way as when you read the book. It is especially important for this story since the book is very, very short and without Act one, you'd have a film that's far too short. As for the story itself, it is a classic and is the go-to "origin story", if you will, of the Joker. You will strangely feel a bit of compassion for him. When a writer can make that possible for a complete lunatic, that says a lot about the quality of writing. Please read the book first though. Even though this film does a great job of portraying the source material on screen, the book is the better form of this story. But, overall, I'd give this adaptation a big thumbs up.

Fun nostalgia ride

I really enjoyed the first of the new TMNT films and enjoyed this one almost as much. I'm an Arrow fan, so I was glad to see Stephen Amell in the film. Megan Fox seems to play a smaller role this time. There's a ton of CG in this film, obviously, but I think it's well done. Beebop and Rocksteady as well as Krang all look good and bring back a lot memories from when I was a kid. This is a good movie for what it is. Suspend your disbelief and your inner movie critic for an hour-and-a-half and just let yourself have fun. I think you'll have a good time doing so.

This will be more of a review of the buying experience than the film itself. I was very excited when I saw this nearly brand new blu ray was on sale for only $6.99. Unfortunately, when I got it home, the blu ray disc was cracked. I returned it and asked for an exchange, but they were sold out. So were all the surrounding stores and online. Best Buy gave me a refund even though it was open, so I was thankful for that. I'd love to review the movie, heck I'd love to SEE the movie, but I simply cannot due to the defect. I'll grade this as average since I got the least of what I hoped for when making the return.

Expected way more from Bose

Bose has always been a leader in quality sound and they charge a premium for it. That's why I got excited when I saw the Black Friday deal on these headphones. Once I got them home and listened to some iTunes and Spotify for a while, I was severely disappointed. They have zero base. People like to rag on Beats headphones, but I would prefer Beats over these 10 times out of 10. Heck, the earbuds that come with the Iphone sound better. Basically, anything but these. Not only that, Bose couldn't bother to put a volume adjuster on the cord? And they have a very strange in-ear design which is not as big a deal as the sound, obviously. These carry a regular price tag of $100 which I guess is supposed to be a very low end, entry-level model for Bose. However, anyone whose first impression of Bose comes from these headphones, I'm certain will not be a future buyer. I'm not an "audiophile" as the kids say these days, but I am a person who loves good music and sound and I can tell the difference in what sounds good and what doesn't. These simply do not and I cannot give more than 1 star.

Expected more from LG, really not great 4k

I bought this TV and a Samsung 4k at the same time, so I had a good comparison of two TV's with similar specs. I thought since LG makes the amazing OLED displays, they would certainly do well on the smaller 4k TV's as well. Wrong. The picture on the Samsung 4k TV blew the LG away. The LG is supposed to upscale, but it looked very blurry to me even after adjusting the settings. I honestly think the picture on my 9 year old Sharp 1080 TV looks better. I even stuck in the same regular blu ray to test the picture on each TV. The blu ray actually looked okay on the LG (better than cable at least). Then I put it in the Samsung and it was no contest. Do yourself a favor and pay a few dollars more for a better TV. Don't let the low price suck you in and have to make return to the store. Finally, as many others have stated, the color of the TV itself is black. It initially said Silver when I ordered it. Now that I'm writing this review the title says gray/black. It is all black.
