After losing a key character at the end of season six, "Sons of Anarchy" upped the ante on non-stop violence for its final outing. I know I shouldn't care about these lunkheads at this point, but season seven left me wanting more. Looks good on DVD, but I'll probably revisit the season on Blu-ray at a later date.
Legitimate business opportunities are pursued for SAMCRO in the sixth season of Sons of Anarchy. Elsewhere, Jax (Charlie Hunnam) secures a new alliance for the club, while Clay (Ron Perlman) seeks protection. Later, when the clubhouse is attacked, the men are forced to come face to face with the demons of their past, and Jax discovers a secret that will change his life forever.

Despite the heavy doses of violence and outright stupidity on the part of some of the characters, "Sons of Anarchy" manages to put you in their place most of the time. The Shakespearean undertones reached the boiling point this season, leaving you to wonder how the 7th year will ride out the storm.

The first "Pirates of Caribbean" movie is by far the best. Watching this beautiful looking Blu-ray reminds you of how entertaining Depp and company's take on the genre was. The extras add to the fun.

Ridley Scott's period drama works much better in the extended cut offered on this beautiful looking Blu-ray. Combine the fuller story with all the extras and you have one of the best cinema bargains out there.

Great animation and clever scripts make "Family Guy" a top-notch guilty pleasure even into season 12 of the series. The bonus features aren't as plentiful as in the past, but the shows are mostly winners. I do miss the extended musical numbers of the early years, but it may be that Seth McFarland's input isn't as prominent as before.
NCIS LOS ANGELES is a drama about the high stakes world of the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation's security. "NCSI: Los Angeles" doesn't offer much food for thought, but season 4 is great fun and nicely-produced on the tech side. Despite my intention to watch just one episode at a time, it's easy to succumb to binge watching when the product is this consistent.
In the high-octane drama NCIS LOS ANGELES, Season Five raises the threat level for the nation's most elite squad of agents. Team leader Special Agent 'G' Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and his partner Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) - a former U.S. Navy SEAL who's seen action in both Afghanistan and Iraq are chameleons who have mastered the art of undercover operations. Alongside Callen and Sam are Special Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah), LAPD liaison Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), NCIS Assistant Director Owen Granger (Miguel Ferrer) and Operations Manager Henrietta 'Hetty' Lange (Academy Award winner Linda Hunt). Even Ops experts Eric (Barrett Foa) and Nell (Renee Felice Smith) get in on the action as they step away from their computers and into the line of fire. Together, the NCIS team puts the pedal to the metal to stop a mastermind from bombing a train, solves a top-secret vaccine-related murder, and embarks on a rescue mission in Afghanistan to save one of their own. With access to the most advanced technological gadgets, this tight-knit unit relies on each other to take down the nation's most dangerous criminals, ensuring justice for all in this 6-disc, 24-episode DVD set!

NCIS: Los Angeles doesn't give you much to think about, but it's a fun way to put the day's ups-and-downs to bed. Season 5 offers more colorful adventures, with the cast meshing even better than before. Technical aspects are fine, as is the compact packaging.
The ninth season of the office finds Andy continuing to work as a regional manager, though he believes his true calling is a life in show business. Pam and Darryl are met with some significant changes in their routine when Jim finds a job in Philadelphia, and Eric continues his romantic fumbling. Elsewhere, Nellie inserts herself into the affairs of others, Angelina realizes her marriage isn't what she had believed, and the documentary about the quirky officemates finally airs.

After a few shakey episodes with Andy in creep mode, things settle down to round out the series in fine style. The final half dozen visits to Dunder-Mifflin make you wish the gang could hang around for years to come. As usual, the deleted scenes and other bonus features add solid value to a quality Blu-ray package.
This collection includes nearly four decades' worth of film starring and/or directed by Clint Eastwood. Among the bonus features include a documentary dedicated to Eastwood's directorial style, as well as a documentary about the filmmaker on either side of the camera, as well as behind-the-scenes featurettes and a 48-page book featuring excerpts from "Clint Eastwood: Master Filmmaker at Work".

This 20-movie Blu-ray collection is a great way to revisit some of Eastwood's most iconic work of the past 45 years. The transfers and audio upgrades bring new gloss to early films like "Josey Wales," while the extras are impressive even with the dullish Richard Schickel on board. At about $3 per movie, you can't afford not to buy it.

"Titanic" looks and sounds great on Blu-ray. The bonus features are also first-rate. You also get the DVDs for one low price. Too bad about the clunky dialogue, but that comes with the territory in Cameron land. Try watching it in French or Spanish. Much easier on the ears.
