Yes, but not in the way you might expect. Origins innovates the most since the series' second entry, which was lauded for how well it improved upon the original.
Origins does the same, but with the series as a whole. No more endless waves of enemies wading to the slaughter as you effortlessly parry and counter in a flurry of gruesome finishers. Combat is now more action RPG-esque with finishers peppered throughout to add some flair. This makes combat more challenging and dynamic since you have to actively defend and engage enemies in lieu of waiting for them to get caught in your buzzsaw.
But the memorable assassination missions and unique nuances that typically coincided with each meaningful kill are also gone. In some instances, I couldn't tell the differance between an assassination target and a standard enemy. In fact, memorable characters and well-voiced cutscenes are pretty much absent altogether, with the exception of some scenes between Bayek and his wife, Aya. But less time spent planning assassinations and engaging in banter/dialogue with NPCs helps streamline the experience and allows more freedom to explore the games many well-crafted side quests/activities.
Origins is absolutely the series' most open-world experience to date, and I haven't been this engrossed in an AC game world since 2 as well. Ancient Egypt begs to be explored by mezmerizing players with its diverse and colorful landscape.
Origins is a departure from some of the conventions that many identify with the series, but overall I think that might be for the better.

Persona 5 defines the role playing genre. Outside of the turn-based combat, you'll engage in daily activities that allow you to organically customize your character. The story and characters are top notch, lending real immersion to the experience.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is an upcoming action role-playing third-person shooter video game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although it shares the universe of the original trilogy, the title is considered a game derived, not the fourth episode of the saga.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is a great game. It has excellent combat, deep customization, and discovering each new world and its inhabitants makes for a great adventure. If you can stomach the AI's poor animation and the game's obvious lack of polish (thanks EA!), I promise you'll be glad you gave it a try.

Horizon is a gorgeous game, which was one of the reasons I hesitated buying it. I was worried that all of the rave reviews were based on the aesthetics alone, but I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of depth and narrative that the game offers. A solid combat experience, good writing, and a deep enemy roster combine with the game's astounding visuals to provide a complete and satisfying experience.

Sure, it's easy to forget about Nier: Automata amongst all the hype surrounding the other late Q1 titles such as Horizon, Mass Effect, and Wildlands. But don't. Nier somehow strikes the perfect mixture of Final Fantasy, the Souls series/Bloodborne, and action games such as Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden.
The story is engrossing, the combat is enthralling, and the stakes for death are high. If you enjoy any of the titles mentioned previously and don't mind reading text old-school style to keep up with the story, then you'll certainly enjoy your journey through Nier's captivating campaign, which offers plenty of surprises.
