Hooking up a dryer can be tricky. The electrical "tail" is carrying 220 volts and the vent hose should be as short and straight as possible. Leaving this job to technicians who have experience with the model and the parts involved saved us time and frustration.

Older "steam fresh" dryer models had a water tank in the dryer, this kit allows the cold water bib to be split between the dryer and the washer. I would like to have seen a valve on the Y coupling so the dryer water could be cut off without cutting off the water to the washer, but it is a good solid kit.

Every dryer installation requires a way to get rid of the hot damp air. It also carries out lint. When installing a new dryer, it is a good idea to install a new vent hose, keep it as short and straight as you can manage for better air flow.. And while the old dryer is out, take a minute to vacuum out the rigid vent pipe. This will let the dryer "breath" easier. This is a good kit, and it is convenient to pick it up with the dryer.

One of the weaknesses in any washer installation is the quality of the hose used. A washer hose failure can flood a house. With more laundry rooms on the second floor this can be a real disaster. The steel reinforcement is a small investment to reduce the risk. You may also want to consider a catch tray with a drain, or even an automatic shutoff.

One of the tricks to buying and installing a dryer yourself is the electrical hookup. Be sure that you understand the shape, voltage, and amperage of your outlet. I recommend taking a picture with your phone to bring with you. Once you have the right cable, read the wiring instructions twice before you wire it and then again before you plug it in. A mistake with the hoses can make a mess. A mistake with dryer wiring is dangerous.

This is a good basic cable. It is long enough to snake around the desk, and flexible enough that you are not fighting it to get it where it belongs. The connectors are substantial, and the mounting screws are large enough to work with. Most monitors come with one, but if you lost yours in a move, this is a good emergency replacement. Yes, there are cheaper ones on line, but what is your time worth.

My choice for office work

The keyboard on my laptop is good but limited. I prefer the feel and key travel on this Logitech. Of course, the wireless allows you to shift positions, and easily relocate with nothing to trip over. The unifying software allows for up to six devices to connect to one receiver. So, you have the flexibility to have a keyboard / mouse combo in the office, the home office, and the family room. I did buy this one as an additional, but I have two others that have lasted more than five years. Batteries last over a year even in daily office work. It is not a gamer keyboard, there can be lag between the keystroke and the input. But for 8 hours a day of office work, it provides comfort, flexibility, and durability.
