Great so Far

We bought this Amazon Fire TV to use for our Sony PlayStation Vue package as part of our cord-cutting plan. We are also Amazon Prime members so it made sense for that application also. The picture is great on our Samsung 65" 4K tv.
The only drawback so far (why I only gave it 4 stars) is that our Logitech Harmony 650 remote will not operate it, thereby forcing us to keep track of the remote.

This is our first TiVo. We bought it as part of our cord-cutting plan. I can't say I really like the user interface. We had DIRECTV before and the genie DVR is much easier. We already have an AppleTV and an Amazon Fire streaming device on top of our new Samsung 4K smart tv so the streaming capabilities of the TiVo weren't that necessary for us.

So far, with several children under the age of 3, it's been really hard to take advantage of this Soundbar. But it does sound great when playing music and Thomas the Train! Set up with our Samsung tv took less longer than it should have, but these are my first Samsung A/V products. One issue that really upset me with Samsung is that when I bought this, it showed that it comes with a bracket to mount it to our Samsung curved tv. However, since this is a clearance (older) model Soundbar and our Samsung tv is new, Samsung changed the tv design and removed the mounting holes. The biggest reason I bought this was to specifically mount this to the tv for a cleaner look.

Does this unit work with OTA ?
Yes! It works great for me (I'm in the Dallas metroplex). We got rid of satellite and are enjoying it. It took a little getting used to, but I love having DVR capabilities for our favorite broadcast shows. We already had an Amazon Fire TV and AppleTV so I really didn't need another device for Netflix and Amazon Prime, but it's there if you want/need it.

Does this item work like a vhs? I want to be able to program at a certain hour a program and record it! I have cable but don't want to pay for the service every month. I record programs once in a while! Does it have storage?
First, you don't set it like a VHS exactly. You search for the show or program you want to record, then set the recording options (one-time, record the series, etc.)
Second, TiVo is not free - you have to rent a cable card from your cable company and you pay a monthly, annual, or one-time fee to TiVo. The only free TiVo option is their Roamio OTA (antenna).
Third, yes it has storage. It holds one terabyte of recordings. Depending on your video quality (SD or HD), you should have hundreds of hours of recordings.

Does it retain recordings if you change companies, i.e. if I changed from DirecTv to Time Warner, will the shows I recorded while with DirecTv still be saved and viewable after I disconnect the DirecTv box and connect/activate the Time Warner box?
I am not aware that the TiVo Bolt is compatible with DirectTV.

Can I use it for 3 TV's?
No, it is connected to one tv. However, you can purchase two TiVo Mini's for your additional tv's and they connect to the TiVo Bolt. Just note that all of the TiVo devices must be connected via Ethernet as the Mini's don't have wireless capabilities. The other option is if you have an MoCA network.
