Good USB 3.0 Enclosure for 3.5 HDDs

I needed to buy this enclosure in order to use desktop HDDs with my Xbox One as well as for my computers, since I did not have a USB 3.0 connector. I got this as an open box item for a good discount, and the item was in great shape, pretty much new.
I did have difficulty mounting the drive with the provided screws, they don't catch well, even with magnetic screwdrivers. If you think you'll be switching the drives often, I would look at a different enclosure with easier drive swap options, but if you're only going to use one drive, this is good.

Excellent SSD, the standard

I've been using Samsung SSDs for a while (started with the 840 Pro 128 GB) and it performs as expected, a very easy installation and very competitive for the price. The Samsung Magician software makes it easy to manage the drive. I bought this one to use with a duplicate drive I had to form a striped volume, which gives very fast read/write speeds.

Plenty of Storage

I picked up the Xbox 360 Peggle 2 console on sale recently so I could retire my original from 2009, so adding storage was necessary. This is a natural pairing with the console, transferring was seamless using a separate cable, and it has more than enough storage for most games, whether it be partial installs or full games, don't forget any DLC.

Good Compact Speakers

I needed a quick set of replacement speakers to use with my new monitor (it has no sound, as I moved from an actual television), but I didn't want one that used AC power due to a lack of space, so I opted to try these out.
With my Razer Blackwidow mechanical keyboard up top, it was easy to route the audio port and the USB power to the keyboard, which has its own ports that use pass-throughs to the main computer I/O, so the cables are tidy.
The speakers work as expected, not top-of-the-line but good enough for normal use. I am picking up some "noise" while the speakers are on and nothing is playing, but it's relatively minor.

Solid suction-cup mount for any camera

I bought this to replace the one for my GoPro, and using the tripod adapter for it, I found this to be very effective. The mount is solid, the pivot head is flexible yet stable when locked, and the standard mount can be used with typical cameras.
My only gripe is that sometimes the mount is too solid, making it difficult to dislodge when I want to take down the mount in a timely manner. Other than that, it's a great value for the price.

A solid battery

For a good price, a spare GoPro battery goes a long way. I can easily record the full 2.5 hours of 1080p 60fps video on a 32 GB card before the battery goes out, which is fairly good for a 1:1 switch ratio for cards and batteries. The GoPro 3 battery is also easier to switch and use than the previous generation.

I received the complete unit as a gift and I find electronic brushing far more effective than manual brushing. These brush heads do the job very nicely. It is a bit pricey but the improvements are worth it. The main battery itself is quite robust and mine continues to work after three years of use.

After experiencing SSDs, I decided to purchase one for my laptop, as an improvement over the original HDD. The added bracket spacer helps with ensuring a good fit.
Installing it and running the operating system setup was easy, and it brings a massive improvement to booting up a laptop. It is very straightforward and a great buy.

When I switched over to a Solid State Drive for my boot device on my computer, I was originally going to use my original HDD as internal storage. However, after wiping it, the device no longer wanted to initialize, so I needed a replacement HDD.
I'm sure this HDD works fine as a boot device, but I find it even better as internal storage. Installing it wasn't a problem, so long as the user knows how to set the boot order correctly. The device initialized and formatted easily, giving me plenty of storage to work with.

I've been putting off on buying a UPS for my electronics for a long time, and when I found this one on sale, I decided to give it a shot. As I do a bit of video editing on my desktop, I like to have the insurance policy in the case of a power outage.
The kit was a bit larger than I thought, but it fits easily into most spots since it can be stood upright or mounted to the wall. There were enough ports for both regular and battery power, so I didn't need a second power strip for non-essentials.
The USB connectivity is quite useful in keeping track of the UPS function. I was surprised at getting only 20 minutes backup time when the box stated 45, but reading it closely that number is for all in one PCs with low power consumption. Mine is more standard and did fall in line with the 15-20 minute backup time.
I personally hope that I never have to experience the UPS in action, but I take comfort in knowing that should a power outage occur, I can safely power down my PC. I didn't give it a five star rating as I have yet to see how the device functions in those conditions, as I don't want to use my PC as a test, but I'll give it the benefit of doubt.

I wanted to post an update to my original review as I experienced my first power outage with the device set. High winds rolled into my town and cut off the power for about an hour. When it did, my UPS kicked in and beeped, notifying me of the switch. I was rendering a video at the time and the UPS did its job. The batter was slated for 20 minutes, and although I had to cancel the render, I was able to successfully shut down my computer without problems. So I would say it works great!
