A great introduction to Cirque Du Soleil
on May 16, 2013

Cirque Du Soleil: World's Away is essentially a sampler featuring some of the best the Canadian entertainment company has to offer. With how much buzz Cirque has gotten in the past few years, releasing this film now is a good way to introduce new fans to what they are all about and what to expect from a live show.
Yes, there is a story here, but it is a very loose one at that without any real dialogue. The plot is simple: Guy and girl get separated, and travel through various "Worlds" of Cirque Du Soleil to find one another. There isn't much to it, and it just serves as a way to introduce the different sets.
The 3D is pretty decent here, and the audio/video is great. The acrobatic stunts are breathtaking as well, but overall this serves as an advertisement to go see one of their live touring shows.

What's great about it: Fantastic production
What's not so great: Loose story

Victims...aren't we all

The Crow (994) is in my humble opinion, one of the best and most underrated comic book to film adaptions of all time. It is also best served to be considered a stand-alone film, with all future sequels and spinoffs ignored.
Releasing during a time when superhero movies were bright, clean and made with a kid-friendly approach in mind, The Crow instead channeled Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film and took it to the next level in terms of intensity and darkness. The whole film has a gritty feel to it that was sorely missing from similar films at the time, and not really touched on again until Blade four years later.
The audio and visual quality are both great, as the film transitioned to HD Blu-Ray very well.
What's great about it: Excellent pacing, great performances and a solid story.
What's not so great: Brandon Lee died during the making of this film.

The beginning of the end.....

"Are you.....a serial killer?"
The seventh season of Dexter marks the beginning of the end for our beloved serial killing, blood spatter analyzing protagonist, and sets the pieces in place for an explosive final season.
This season has some pretty inventive kills and ends with a bang (pun intended) that raises some questions, finds some answers and leaves us wanting more.
Audio and video quality on this release are very good, and the show itself has a very high level of polish and great production values.

The Showtime Original Series Dexter is back with an all-new season, and this time America's favorite serial killer has gone from freewheeling bachelor to responsible husband and doting dad. Maintaining an average-guy facade while satisfying his need to kill has never been easy. But now, with wife and kids in tow, Dexter's got more to lose then ever, as he gets drawn into a deadly game with a killer every bit as dangerous - and conflicted - as he is.

A landmark season in the series
on May 16, 2013

The fourth season of Showtime's hit series Dexter is not only one of the best seasons in the series, but in my humble opinion one of the best seasons of any show on the entire network.
I will not divulge too much into the plot details so anyone who hasn't seen it doesn't have it spoiled for them. So, here are some basics:
- Season guest star John Lithgow shines in one of the best performances of his entire career.
- The main and supporting cast all deliver solid performances throughout, and all the characters all have more direction than in the past (and future, in some instances).
- The overall production quality of the show and this Blu-Ray release are top notch, as is expected from a Showtime Original Series.
I would not recommend starting off watching Dexter with season four, as you will appreciate the characters and plot much more if you have a solid understanding of the universe everything takes place in. However, if you fell off a bit after a lackluster season three, prepare to have your mind blown.
What's great about it: A "back to basics" approach to character and story development.

An action-packed comic adaption that hits the mark
on April 30, 2013

from Northern NJ
Following the unintentionally hilarious release of "Judge Dredd" in 1995 starring Sly Stallone, the hope of any future films centered around the no holds barred Judge, Jury and Executioner brought to life by John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra seemed pretty grim.
However, in 2012, DREDD 3D was released to little fanfare in the states, and while not a box office smash, it offered one of the most loyal comic to film adaptions to date with great action sequences, a solid story and redemption for the 1995 disasterpiece.
Some fans have pointed out plot similarities between DREDD 3D and Gareth Evans' fantastic "The Raid: Redemption". While the two share the same basic premise (which isn't all that unique to begin with), the execution of both are different and give each film their own identity and feel.
This 3D/2D Blu-Ray offers very crisp audio and visuals, though the extras and bonus features are a bit lacking. Still, it is a fantastic offering for hardcore Dredd fans and casual action flick viewers alike. The characters, presentation and ambiance in the film stay fiercely loyal to the source material without ever straying too far from mainstream accessibility.

A solid keyboard and great accessory for the iMac
on April 28, 2013

As an everyday keyboard, this more than does the trick. Typing and navigation of the keys are both very smooth, and button response time is great as well. The color scheme is also easy on the eyes and matches perfectly with the iMac computers. For those who work with data entry, having the numeric keypad is a very useful tool.
Also featured is a backspace key which deletes characters to the cursor's left; a useful function not found on the Apple wireless keyboard.
For some, this keyboard being wired may be a deal-breaker, but I don't mind it at all. I will never have to worry about replacing or recharging separate batteries to operate it, and as someone who only types at the desk, being connected to the iMac doesn't restrict or bother me. As it is connected to the actual iMac, you won't be able to power on the computer using the keyboard, but this doesn't really matter for me personally.
Overall, the Apple keyboard with numeric keypad is a great accessory for the iMac.

One of the best games of 2011 at a bargain price
on April 28, 2013
Posted by: RoaNoCommonSense
from Northern NJ
Age:25-34

When Batman: Arkham City was released in late 2011, it took the gaming world by storm and offered up not only a fantastic sequel to 2009's breakout "Arkham Asylum", but one of the best games of the year.
In May 2012, the Game Of The Year (GOTY) edition of Arkham City was released loaded with bonus content. With it being at such a great price now, there is no reason not to give it a try and see what all the hype is about.
The gameplay is butter smooth, and racking up bone-breaking combos while playing as The Dark Knight is one of the highlights of the Arkham City experience. Furthermore, there is a massive open world to explore, complete with loads of fan service and surprises around every corner. A multitude of puzzles and unlocks scattered throughout the dystopian city give the game a healthy amount of replay value in lieu of an online multiplayer component.
The story is very easy to follow, even for gamers who don't know much at all about Batman. However, there are plenty of little nods and winks that hardcore caped crusader fans will appreciate. Throughout the single player campaign you'll experience ups, downs, twists and turns which ultimately lead to a satisfying conclusion.
Like its predecessor, the graphics, audio and overall presentation here are unmatched when it comes to superhero games. Aside from having a remarkable level of polish, Arkham City also has a very grimy, gritty feel that creates an ambiance that brings the environments to life.
In an unfortunate era of quick movie tie-in cash grabs, it's hard to find a decent superhero game these days, let alone one that ranks as one of the best releases of this generation. However, Arkham City GOTY Edition was up to the challenge, and passed with high marks.
