Lord of war is an action packed comedy mixed in with some drama. This is a movie about a young man that has dreams of making a lot of money. His first sale was a pair of Israeli made Uzi's which he almost died from, but with a bit of humor saved his life. In the end he has a chance to keep from losing everything. But will he take it?

Walter Hill's update of classic spaghetti Westerns,Last Man Standing, comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and is preferable in every way to the standard full-frame transfer. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, and a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. English, French, and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include trailers, biographies of the cast, and highlights of star Bruce Willis. New Line has done a respectable job with this DVD, making it worthwhile when considering the reasonable list price.

Last Man Standing is an all out gunfight from beginning to end. It is based in the 1940's where the Tommy Guns where the Rulers of the Streets. Bruce Willis (John Smith) has a pair of .45 caliber pistols that he uses threw out the entire movie to put his point across. And of course there is a woman that he is trying to free. This movie is a great addition to any movie archive.

Like the TV series that shared the same title, The Untouchables (1987) was an account of the battle between gangster Al Capone and lawman Eliot Ness, this time in the form of a feature film boasting big stars, a big budget, and a script from respected playwright David Mamet. Kevin Costner stars as Ness, a federal agent who has come to Chicago during the Prohibition Era, when corruption in the local police department is rampant. His mission is to put crime lord Capone (Robert De Niro) out of business, but Capone is so powerful and popular that Ness is not taken seriously by the law or the press. One night, discouraged, he meets a veteran patrolman, Jimmy Malone (Sean Connery), and discovers that the acerbic Irishman is the one honest man he's been seeking. Malone has soon helped Ness recruit a gunslinger rookie, George Stone (Andy Garcia), and, joined by nebbish accountant Oscar Wallace (Charles Martin Smith), the men doggedly pursue Capone and his illegal interests. At first a laughingstock, Ness soon has Capone outraged over his and Malone's sometimes law-bending tactics, and the vain mobster strikes back in vicious style. Ultimately, it is the most unexpected and minor of crimes, tax evasion, which proves Capone's undoing. All of the credits for The Untouchables boasted big names, including music from Ennio Morricone and costumes by Giorgio Armani. Director Brian De Palma continued his tradition of including a homage to past masters of the cinema with a taut stairway shoot-out reminiscent of a similar sequence in Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin (1925).

Oliver Stone's controversial JFK has received many DVD releases. This edition stands as the definitive version. The film is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The transfer is crisp and does a superb job of capturing Robert Richardson's award-winning cinematography. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese subtitles are accessible. The excellent supplemental materials include a feature -length commentary from Stone. He talks more about history and the conspiracy than he does about the filmmaking process, but what he says will be interesting to anyone intrigued by the topic. A handful of alternate and deleted scenes can be viewed with optional Stone commentary. The feature-length documentary Beyond JFK: The Question of Conspiracy contains even more information about the assassination while also containing interviews with many of the people who worked on the film. Featurettes containing interviews with figures tangentially involved in the real events round out this excellent release from Warner Bros.

Artisan gives Reservoir Dogs the treatment it richly deserves on this tenth anniversary Special Edition. The film is offered in both a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and an inferior full-frame image. English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital Surround, and DTS Surround. Supplemental materials include a variety of scene specific commentaries from people involved in the production as well as major film critics, featurettes about the actors, the original theatrical trailer, and a variety of quirky small extras like a reenactment of the famous torture scene using only the Reservoir Dogs action figures.

This Hilarious Sequel to Get Shorty Stars John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Steven Tyler, The Rock, Cedric The Entertainer and Christina Milian. It is incredible. It is amazing how cool Travolta stays even threw the most dangerous situations. I don't want to give it all away, but you will love the first 15 minutes. This Movie shows Chili Palmer (Tavolta) how he wants get out of the movie business and into the music business. But his Past seams to follow him.

Tom Cruise stars in director Cameron Crowe's complex thriller Vanilla Sky. Presented in a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, Paramount's work on this picture is stunningly good. With dark black levels and solid colors, this transfer includes nary a hint of edge enhancement, grain, or any other imperfection that might otherwise mar the image. The audio is presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround in English, as well as Dolby 2.0 Surround in English and French. The 5.1 mix is very aggressive and full, utilizing rear and front surrounds generously (especially with the use of modern rock songs in the background). Also included on this disc are English subtitles. The extra features for Vanilla Sky are plentiful and exciting, starting with a commentary track by Crowe and his wife, composer Nancy Wilson of the rock group Heart. Both participants are very chatty and even get a chance to do a brief interview with Cruise. Two featurettes, "Prelude to a Dream" and "Hitting It Hard," each include interviews with the cast and crew as well as some extensive behind-the-scenes footage from the film and the overseas premiere. Finally, there is also a brief interview with Paul McCartney, a music video by Leftfield and Afrika Bambaataa, an unreleased teaser trailer, a theatrical trailer, and a photo gallery with an introduction by photographer Neal Preston.
