No need for a fake 4k presentation...
on July 12, 2017

If you already have the 3D edition, no need to bother with this newer release. It is just 2K upscaled and doesn't come close to the 3D version. Of course, if you don't have 3D or even a 2d version of this movie but feel you must have a copy, go right ahead. Personally I feel that this is one of the weaker Spider-Man movies ( after Spider-Man 3), and it is only the 3-D that saves it for me. Without that dimension, I'd probably skip it in any 2D format.

4k or 3d?
on March 26, 2017
Posted by: cinema13
from NJ
If you can only choose one format, go for the 3D. I saw it both ways and the 3D edition brings the imagery to life. The darker 4k version actually obscures some picture information.
Never played the games but thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Ok in flat 2D but the 3D really enhances the visuals. I gave it an extra star just for that.

A band of determined Russian soldiers fight to hold a strategic building in their devastated city against a ruthless German army, and in the process become deeply connected to a Russian woman who has been living there. In STALINGRAD, directed by Fedor Bondarchuk, the scale of the battle contrasts dramatically with the human drama of the Russian soldiers, the few remaining civilians and their invaders into Stalingrad.

Native 3D
on April 20, 2016
Posted by: cinema13

Unlike most Hollywood movies which are shot in 2S and then converted to 3D later, STALINGRAD was actually shot with 3D cameras. While it doesn't throw tons of stuff at the screen, the 3D is gangbusters during sequences like seeing running soldiers on fire. If you're going to see this movie, 3D is the way to go.

Good price for a Steelbook
on March 13, 2016
Posted by: cinema13
from NJ
This is an excellent price if you are a steelbook collector. But if you want to see the film at its best, the Ultimate Cut version is the one to own. If that's not possible, then the Director's Cut should be the second option. The theatrical Steelbook edition is the version that people who slam the movie have seen...missing an HOUR of footage!

Visually stunning in 3D
on January 28, 2016

If you have Scott's other 3D movies (THE MARTIAN and PROMETHEUS), then you already know how beautifully Scott shoots in 3D. Same is true here. The 3D enhances every shot...beautiful to behold. Extra star for that!
As for the film itself, there seem to be large chunks missing/cut. Heck, Sigourney Weaver only has 2 or 3 lines! Perhaps in the future there will be (like KINGDOM OF HEAVEN), a director's cut that will improve it greatly.

Shout has outdone themselves with this release. A 4K scan of the International version and the first HD release of the Director's cut. The theatrical version is also included. All bases covered.

Good family movie...and improved greatly with some immersive 3D! Lots of depth that truly enhances the movie. If your TV has 3D, you're going to enjoy this even more..

There's only one way to really see this
on July 7, 2015

As many have noted, it's a fine family film. But too really get the most out of it, it MUST be seen in 3D! It's a totally different (and better) experience. Stop-motion animation really benefits from having 3 dimensions. Both characters and textures come alive...it's almost as if you are actually in the studio. If you own a 3D-capable set, be sure to get the 3D combo edition. You'll ve VERY glad you did. (I'm adding an extra star just for the effective 3D,.)

A Special Treat in the Deluxe Edition
on March 31, 2015
Posted by: cinema13
from NJ
Picked up the Deluxe version (can't go wrong for $17.99!) Others here have all commented on the film, but the Deluxe has a brand-new 10-minute Rocky & Bullwinkle feature. Animated in the same manner as the feature, this captured the feel of the old show better than than MR P&S. Great to see Boris & Natasha again. And the late June Foray voices Rocky one last time. As if that wasn't enough, it's also 3D too! Well-done and smiles all around. MR PEABODY & SHERMAN has exceptional 3D as well. If you have a 3D-capable set,.this edition is a no-brainer! And if you don't, buy it anyway because most likely your next set will have 3D and, until then, it also has the DVD and 2D BD. So you're covered both for now and for the future! Kudos to Dreamworks for assembling such a fine package

A different take
on January 4, 2015
Posted by: cinema13

I did not expect the 3D on this to be as effective as it was. It certainly enhances the movie and is a recommended way to watch this.
This renidition of Herc has him as a mercenary, and not a demi-god. If you can put pre-conceptions aside, there's a lot to like here. Great production design and action sequences, especially in 3D (for which I added an extra star)..

Wow!! A new twist on the Bermuda Triangle!!
By Antman2057 from NJ
It's hard to talk about without giving it away,it's also tough to classify.Evements of a thriller, horror, suppense, and sci fi make a brilliant movie sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, guessing and talking after the movie is over.Watch it with some friends you'll have a great time brainstorming on it.There is one short feature with some interviews but the movie more than makes up for it.The HD picture is top notch. If they rerelease it with some deleted scenes, commantary or longer features I'm sure to get it!

Better than INCEPTION
December 17, 2010
This is an extraordinary film that is perfectly realized. It literally demands more than one viewing...which is the best reason to buy a film instead of renting. It is shameful that the American release has eliminated the commentary, Making-of, deleted scenes, etc (which ARE included on the U.K. disc). But better to get this disc than not have it at all.

Exceptional film!
December 27, 2010
So...did you enjoy INCEPTION? I've spoken to some who found TRIANGLE to be a better movie, after seeing it. I certainly agree! Lots of replay value here. Nice BD picture and sound quality also. Ingenious and intriguing...buying this movie is a no-brainer...it belongs in every film lover's collection. Do yourself a favor...don't miss this one!

Good Movie

The video is awful. Very poor transfer. I also got Jaws 2 and Jaws: The Revenge and they do have very good video quality. Shame on Universal.

The 3D transfer looks better than the 2D, fortunately. Still had issues related to the original source material but some of the problems on the 2D version were fixed for the 3D.
