A Good Lesser Hammer Film

This is an okay blu-ray release of a good, though not great, Hammer film. It has a good HD video presentation of a film that could do with a more thorough restoration. Audio is lossy; it sounds okay, but it should really have been lossless. The disc includes some nice extras - a couple of World of Hammers, a more recent featurette "Hammer Glamour" and an enjoyable commentary.

What's great about it: Peter Cushing as Frankenstein
What's not so great: Lossy Audio

Great Series

This is by far the best thing the BBC have done in ages; absolute genius setting a series just *after* the Ripper murders, which have been dramatized to death.

Great Value Set

This 2-pack is great value for money. Casino Royale is an excellent reboot to a franchise that had been treading water for years. Quantum of Solace is not as good, but still entertaining.

A Very Baz Luhrmann Film

This is very much Baz Luhrmann's film. I have a feeling that the studio were expecting something along the lines of Australia and he has given them something more along the stylistic lines of his earlier Moulin Rouge.
People looking for a traditional adaptation of Gatsby are not going to be happy. I, on the other hand, am.
