This is Terrence Malick's first film. While not as good (IMHO) as what was to come, it is still very much worth watching. This release provides an excellent presentation.

A fun little film on an okay disc

Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson turn in great performances in this pleasant little slice of life drama. The disc presentation is a bit average, but gets the job done.

This is a great film about an English family facing attacks on their home and way of life. Mrs Miniver maintains a constant stiff upper lip in the face of all manner of German aggression and sorts out controversy at the village flower competition too. Awesome.
What's great about it: William Wyler is just an awesome director
What's not so great: Possibly a little bit too stiff an upper lip in the face of disaster after disaster

Great Film. Poor Presentation on a Poor Disc.

Where are the extras from the Criterion DVD? Why is the video so lacking in detail? Why is it acceptable for the Blu-Ray release of this film to be bested by both an earlier DVD (better overall presentation of film and extras) and an HD-DVD (better video)? Why would any manufacturer expect anyone to buy something this poor?

What's great about it: It's Spartacus! What's not to like?
What's not so great: Lack of Extras. Shoddy Video.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A good biopic of Margaret Thatcher

A very well acted excellent film. Sadly, it does not include any of Thatcher's strong relationship with Reagan, which somewhat defined her era. Nor does it touch on her involvement in the fall of communism. It focuses on her dementia, union busting and the decision to sink the Belgrano, which seems a tad unbalanced. Still very much worth watching, but I rather hope this film is not the last word on the subject.
