I've bought recently to use here in US and abroad, and, so far, it has provided good routes and directions in both cases. The reason for some "good routes and directions" is that, eventually, when trying to find address a bit outside the city, it wasn't enable to provide it, even having purchased the maps from the region. Still, the screen size is quite good and indications of restaurants, gas stations and others while you're driving is very nice.

What makes the receiving voice garbled?
When someone is speaking to me, their voice sounds garbled, like under water.
It could be either too high volume on handset, saturating the speaker of the earpiece, or eventual problem with the bluetooth reception of the device.

how many hours of talk time do you get using this device
It states that gives you around 6 hours. If you use the remote base, it extends to even more.
