I never played the original titanfall because I don't do any online gaming but it seemed like it would be interesting. I was very happy to hear this game would have a single player campaign. I can honestly say it was a blast playing through it. I don't mess with the multiplayer so I can't comment on that aspect, but the single player mode was a lot of fun and had a great story. The graphics are very good for those who dwell on such issues. I prefer to focus on game play itself and this game delivers in that regard. The controls are very fluid and easy to pick up. Their were two or three times where the difficult ramps up significantly for a few moments, but other than that I highly recommend this to first person shooter fans, sci fi shooter fans, or people who like futuristic combat. It's a shame it did not sell that well, but I suspect that was due to being released so closely to Battlefield 1 (also a great game) and Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare (have not played yet). All in all a great game

Great third installment

It took two tries and a new director, but we finally got the Star Trek we've been waiting for. It's clear that director Justin Lin, and writers Simon Pegg and Doug Jung did their deep dive homework, and their love for the show, its characters, and tropes shows up in nearly every scene. You could fill a basket with the Easter Eggs sprinkled around, too- everything from Picard's Stargazer to a 'giant green hand' are peppered in the story.
The action is fierce, and a little overwhelming at times. Scenes shoot by so fast during the takedown of the Enterprise that a second viewing is needed to see who did what and where. That's where the Blu Ray will come in- you'll be able to catch those other little moments that fly past almost too quickly to catch.
The quieter scenes are where this movie really shines- especially the interaction between the irascible McCoy, and the relentlessly logical Spock. McCoy finally gets some great moments, and he'll be able to add a few more things to his "I'm a doctor, not a [insert thing here]" checklist. The new character introduced to the crew, Jaylah, also shines, and steals every scene she's in. And Anton Yelchin also shines in his final performance as Chekov. The movie is dedicated to both him and the late Leonard Nimoy.
Some have said that this movie is a television episode wrought large- and it is- in a good way. We see the roots of what Star Trek is, see the fantastic Yorktown starbase (which should show up again somewhere in the Trekverse- it's too awesome to be a one-shot!), see our familiar characters in some unfamiliar ways, and deal with a bad guy whose motives are heartbreakingly revealed in the climax.
The movie also honors the passing of Leonard Nimoy in a sensitive, heartfelt way.

'Omri" One Of The Most Likable Kids Ever On Film

I'm a sucker for nice kids, not those snotty ones seen so often in films from the '60s to the present. In here is a wonderful neat-looking little kid, Hal Sardino, who is unusual in that this is the only movie he ever starred in. To his credit, Scardino went on to live a "normal" life after this film, eventually going to college as a regular student like you and me with no celebrity status.
The film is anything but "normal," a fantasy about a young boy who receives a cupboard that transforms little toy figurines - in this case, an Indian and then a cowboy. - into miniature real-life people. Each time he opens or closes the box with the figures in them, they change to either real or back to plastic.
Scardino, who plays Omri," is fun to watch, if for no other reason than the great expressions on his face. He has to be one of the most likable children I've ever seen on film. Meanwhile, his best friend "Patrick" is the only villain, so to speak, only because he's a bit "defiant," as his mother labels him and he almost spoils everything for "Omri."
It's a solid family film that is fun for both the parents and kids to watch at the same time. Both will get a lot of entertainment out of it. With just a bit of profanity early on and a bit of obvious political correctness, there is nothing in here which should offend viewers. Critics didn't seem to care for it, so you know it truly was a nice, wholesome film....and fun to watch.

Much better than I expected

I was one that did not have high expectations for the series, but am very impressed at how it has turned out so far. The character (and overall storyline) is very dark. Much darker even than version of the Green Arrow played by Justin Heartly on Smallville. This version of the character made that one look like a boy scout. To say he is morally ambiguous is an understatement.
The series starts with Oliver Queen being rescued from an island he had been marooned on for 5 years. The show actually tells two stories. In flashbacks we learn what happened after the shipwreck and the events that unfold on the island. In the present we see his transformation into "The Hood" a vigilante on a mission to take down the criminal elite in Starling City. He is also re-integrating into "normal" life, reconnecting with his friends and family, while having to lead a double life to protect those he cares about. Throughout the first season they introduce many of the DC comic characters along the way
The key to the series is the wonderful acting. There are really no "A list" actors in the group, but many of them are recognizable from other shows. Stephen Amell does a great job playing the brooding role, and yet having to incorporate some of Oliver's past playboy attitude. All of the supporting actors, both series regulars and recurring, bring a lot to the show, and the writers do a good job of giving good stories to all the characters, so it is not just about Arrow out chasing down bad guys. Some of the stories in the first season get resolved, others are left open. So there is a lot to work with going into season 2.
As far as this set goes, it comes both on Blu Ray and for some reason DVD. There are 4 blu ray discs and 5 DVDs. The show looks and sounds great on blu ray as you would expect. My only complaint about the blu rays is there there is no season mode. So even if you use the play all option, if you stop in the middle of an episode it does not pick back up where you stopped it. As far as extras go, there are commentary tracks on select episodes, deleted scenes for many of the episodes, a 30 min "making of" feature, an 18 min feature on the stunts, a panel discussion and gag reel. Definitely enough to keep those who like the bonus material happy.
