By the time you've gone through the other X-men movies, you can be confused as to where they are all going and what is supposed to be canonical. This movie, in addition to having a good plot, helps clean up that mess a bit and leads well into Days of Future Past.

Seems to portray certain dynamics in the world of film pretty well and the acting in it was really good, especially on the part of Chloë Grace Moretz, small though her role was. Sound track and scenery were well done. The brief nude scene, however, seemed random and unneeded.

I had been wanting to see this movie for a long a time, but never got around to it until seeing it in the store and having some store credit on hand. Sadly as with many movies, the preview was so much better. It was a good overall plot, with great actors, and great acting. What throws it off, though, ironically, are the fight scenes (shoot-outs, chases, and the occasional fist-fights) which were clumsy, awkward, and cheesy. I'll ignore unrealistic, because that usually adds to the quality of fight scenes. There was just very little style in them, but since it's based on a true story, maybe that's the point. I'm still not sad to own it, though.

I had some store credit and stumbled upon this movie which won Best Picture and got several other nominations. It is amusing in its own ways and very well shot and crafted as a whole. It getting the hype it got, though, I was expecting more. The plot was a little more random than I would have liked and not very engrossing. While interesting and witty, and having some of my favorite actors in the cast (Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Edward Norton), it seemed to in a way present itself as though it was being taken for granted that it would get awards and should be highly acclaimed just for existing. While it certainly did get awards and nominations, it still could have done without that underlying arrogance. It's hard to explain, but it seems to, like "Anchorman" or "The Other Guys", take for granted its humor and that everyone should just naturally find it amusing simply because it says it is. I would not tell people not to watch it, though, and it was certainly better than "Anchorman" and "The Other Guys."

Typical Denzel Washington movie, but great co-star

If you like Denzel Washington movies, I doubt this movie will disappoint you. If not, however, the Equalizer still has a unique quality with the performance of Chloë Grace Moretz, who sadly in most cases when I use her name in casual conversation, is still typically only recognized as Hit-Girl. It's only a matter of time for her, however, given her potential, and she demonstrates that in this movie by stealing the show with only about five scenes to work with. Stay tuned for the Fifth Wave.

I'm not a real big fan of teen romance films, but as is the case with most of her films Chloë Moretz makes it worth watching. She brings a unique presence and talent to all of her films and this one is no exception. If one is a fan of her, then this one should not be missed.
