Yes, Mr, Depp is back in form after the god awful "Mordecai", which should have been called 'Mortify". He gives a chilling performance and really inhabits the character. In fact, after the make-up, he's almost unrecognizable as Depp. This is a great "gangster" flick and is based on a real person, so if Gangster is your thing, you'll probably enjoy it. 5 stars for Depp's performance alone!
Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories. Special features include a look at the series, Inside the Characters of Fear the Walking Dead.

I hesitated getting this one because of the mixed reviews, but it's definitely worth checking out. This is a different show in tone and location. We have a big city (Los Angeles) instead of rural Georgia. But the real reason to get this if you're a fan of the original is because we get to see the actual breakdown of society as the apocalypse begins. We missed all that in the original because Rick Grimes was in a coma when this was happening! It's entertaining enough and there's definite potential for the characters and future stories.

If you love the Cohen Brothers quirky films then this is a no brainer. They manage to spoof and pay homage to Hollywood's Golden Age at the same time. Some of the screen time is short for most of the actors, but that's because there's a lot to go around. Great performance by George Clooney, who seems to excel at playing "clueless" characters for the Cohens.
