hands down my favorite TV show from my childhood. This is the more expensive collectible box which includes some extra knickknacks besides the series itself. There is a stripped down version coming in December minus the collectibles. Please note: Warner Bros. is starting a disc replacement program because A couple of the episodes are apparently missing a minute or two of footage. Just contact their home entertainment customer service department and replacement discs should start shipping in January. All things considered, this is a terrific box set.

NBK is a misunderstood masterpiece. Doulbe-dip is worthwhile because it includes the theatrical cut in addition to the unrated, adds a new 20+ minute featurette and features WB's cool new Diamond Luxe packaging. A Best Buy exclusive until December.

Coming just a couple of months after the like-minded and superior Oblivion, After Earth is a better movie than you would think. If you can get past the desperately distracting nepotism of Will and Jayden Smith, it's actually pretty imaginative and looks/sounds fantastic on blu-ray.

Gremlins gets a worthwhile double dip on blu-ray via WB's "Diamond Luxe" line (a Best Buy exclusive until December). A second disc of bonus features makes this version considerably better than the original hi-def release and the weighty yet slim packaging is very nice.

Director Spike Jonze holds up a mirror to society and the result is a love story full of heartache and romance. It doesn't matter that the object of affection is a computer program. With just her voice, Scarlett Johansson embodies all the lustful characteristics that a full-bodied actress would. I dare you not to develop a crush of your own. Joaquin Phoenix is equally fantastic and empathetic. Highly recommended.

Good for kids who like the other Fairy films.

I'm not going to go into too much critiquing of this material given what it is but I will say it's an enjoyable film for the kids, especially young girls. The animation and production values are strong, particularly given that it's a direct video release, and the voice talents are enjoyable as always. You would think the infusion of a pirate storyline would make the film feel even closer to its Peter Pan source material but at the same time, it wonders a bit off the path laid by the previous films in this series. Who are we kidding though? This isn't intended to be an award-winning work of art. At the end of the day, all that really matters is that it's entertaining and that it is.
