The third chapter in the rebooted sci-fi film franchise finds ape leader Caesar's (Andy Serkis in a voice and motion-capture performance) forces locked in a desperate conflict with the Colonel (Woody Harrelson), a ruthless human whose army also includes a group of traitorous primates. The modern-day “Apes” series closes out (maybe?) with this fantastically entertaining entry. Andy Serkis + filmmaking wizardry makes Caesar and the other apes into fully-realized characters.
For longtime fans, there’s a neat 20 minute feature on the series’ history. Highly recommended.

Great memories in a deluxe edition

This was my first time watching Labyrinth in probably 15 years, after seeing it untold times on VHS back in the 80's. The Blu-ray looks great, and really shows off the film's wide color palette. The extra features give you plenty of behind-the-scenes info. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the film itself hasn't really aged that well.

I'm a little surprised people don't talk about this film more. It's a first-rate REAL science fiction story with a good cast. I missed it in the theater, but it sure does look great on Blu-ray. I haven't even looked at the bonus features yet; I just love the movie and got it at a great price.

Great selection, not always the best sound

It's hard to knock a collection like this--it's pretty much all the Lionel AND Commodores a casual fan could want. The only issue (and I have noticed this with other "Gold" collections as well) is that it appears that the tracks are not always from the best source. One should not have to adjust the volume from one track to another, but I found this to be the case several times while listening. It may not be a deal-breaker, and this is a fantastic collection at a very reasonable price, but true audiophiles may want to pass on this one.

I always felt this first official cinematic rendering of Fantastic Four wasn't treated fairly. It's a lot of fun, and blissfully free of the darkness and angst that permeates most modern superhero epics. Some of the CGI hasn't aged well, but it was never top-drawer to begin with. Just have fun with this one.

Classic Disney animation, pure and simple. Sure, it may be a hard sell for kids today, but urge them to give it a try. The HD transfer really shows off the beautiful color palette in this one. I honestly haven't even gotten into the bonus features yet, but I'm just happy to have the movie on Blu-ray.

Essential Prince!

Even if, like me, you own or have at some point owned Purple Rain on vinyl, cassette and CD, this is an essential item. The vault material on disc 2 is mostly first-rate, with much better sound quality than all the bootlegs floating around. Disc 3 may be a little less impressive, but completists will be happy to have all the extra mixes. And the DVD release of 1985's "Live Around the World" concert is a real treat. Stop reading reviews and buy it!
