Works fine for home use as long as you don't need scans for giant reproductions - it's blazing fast compared to a flatbed, but like most flatbeds, isn't meant for really 'Professional' uses. If you don't need that and are scanning to archive and share photos with occasional prints, it's great.
Drop in a stack of photos and start scanning. You will have to adjust the settings for pages that aren't perfect in exposure and contrast, but that's simple. The autoscan works well enough for most purposes.

Even Netgear's (hard to get to!) tech support could not diagnose this machine's problems - it would only stay connected to the computers for a few seconds at a time - so it got returned and will be replaced by ANY brand but Netgear - when their advice is to return it to the store, they are't interested in finding out what's wrong.

Photo prints are about the equal of commercial prints (but are NOT moisture resistant - this is true of all inkjets, so not a negative comment) that can also print on printable or labelled CDs/DVDs. Scan speed and accuracy are good enough for home photo scanning, but it would help me to be able to scan negatives and slides. This would eliminate double-sided auto scans, so it's also not a negative, just a comment in case someone is wondering.
Being able to replace only one color instead of an entire cartridge helps save money on printing, but it's still going to cost more than sending big jobs out. If I have to get another printer/scanner soon, it'll be this one or a similar Epson.

The movie was called the most true-to-life Army movie ever by an Army surgeon - supposedly, his Evac hospital in 'Nam never returned their copy, they liked it so much. What is the button on the portable hard drive?
When connected to the computer the button lights up white. I thought the button would allow me to safely remove the hard drive but only my screen refreshed. The instruction books included are lacking information for first time users. A "Quick Start" guide which labels the components and how to run the set up, as well as a California Prop warning.
While using the computer normally with this plug in the button randomly flashes and "AUTO PLAY" options appear. So far it has happened twice while typing this question. What is the button supposed to do?

That's just a power indicator - you have to use the computer to remove the HD - Windows and Mac are different, so check the manual for your computer to find the appropriate directions.
