These guys keep getting better and better. They have a real Motorhead vibe to their music. Loud, fuzzy, greasy biker rock. If you liked their other albums, you should have no problem digging this one as well.

Purchased a download card and it was a very easy and quick install. The only negative is that both Excell and Word have added way, way too many options when working on a document in my opinion. Keeping it simple usually works better than having a thousand tabs and options I'll never use. Otherwise, it's aces.

It's been awhile since I was interested in listening to anything new from Suicidal Tendencies, however after seeing them live opening for Megadeth, their on-stage energy and sound rekindled my interest in the band. This new album is a perfect blend of hardcore punk and thrash that should leave most old-school fans surprisingly pleased. They aren't reinventing the genre or trying to modern-up their sound. It's the ST we all know and love. Get this album. And a Pepsi.

Another great release from High Spirits. If you're familiar with the past efforts of one Chris Black, you'll find something to enjoy here as well. If you haven't heard this guy before and you enjoy the melodic side of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, check them out. Beautiful harmonies with biting guitar work.

A Decent EP, but hardly essential

It starts off strong with Square Hammer but loses steam by the 3rd song in. Thankfully it's a short ep so it doesn't overstay it's welcome or get boring. Ripped to the computer and blended in with the other tunes in their catalog, it sounds just fine. I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. It just sort of exists as a stop-gap release till the next album.

What Happened to the METAL?

This new album is a decent rock album. Most of their metal edges have been completely buffed clean though. I was afraid of this happening after their last album. Out of the 13 tracks, only one song 'Seal the Deal', could be categorized as metal. Maybe the last track too. Kinda.
It sounds like Volbeat, no question. And it's pretty catchy. But they've changed their sound from the older days. Whether that's a good thing or bad is completely up to the ears of the listener. If you liked the last album, there is no reason not to like this one too. I'm disappointed with it though.
There are also 2 cover songs on here. 'Battleship Chains' was originally done (better too) by The Georgia Satellites. While there is nothing inherently wrong with Volbeat's version, it lacks anything special.
'Rebound' was originally done by the pop/punk band Teenage Bottlerocket. It's not a bad cover, but a strange choice given the fact that it's about getting dumped by your highschool sweetheart and it's being sung by dudes well past their high school years. Apparently it's a tribute to TB's deceased drummer, who was a friend of the band.
Perhaps with time, I'll warm up to this album, but for now, if I wanna hear some Volbeat, I'm going back to their early albums when they were still cranking a nice blend of metal, rock, rockabilly and whatever else they felt like. This album is more suited for a bland, non-offensive Clear Channel playlist
Oh, and the bonus tunes are kinda lame and really non-essential listening. You're not missing anything with those.

It's An Acceptable Substitute
