Once again; Heroes need good Villains to play off of, and this movie provides great examples from which to draw from. The drama is down right captivating, which allows time passages to speed up. The movie is peppered with humor, and allows each character to showcase their funny side.
All in all, a good movie experience that drew me into it and allowed me to forget about everything else for a short while ... and that is what a movie is suppose to do.

What's great about it: Drama and Humor - Good Combination
What's not so great: Was over too quick (Must be a time bending trick).

Since I have not read any of the books related to this movie, I have to judge it based on my experience with the movie, and without any expectations related to the books.
Here is one more story about kids who have powers beyond what you and I have, and all of the adults around them give them free rein to do what ever is necessary to move the plot along. Everything about this movie was average, and did little to keep me awake.

In all fairness, my wife loved the movie - I thought it was meh. As i have stated in earlier reviews; It is very important to have contrasting characters for good and bad to play off of each other. While the hero of this story may be cute and brave, the villains themselves were a bit bland. Most of the conflict our hero faced was in overcoming bad situations - which does nothing more than show us how the hero thinks and acts. The story and characters were a little underwhelming, but there may be others out there who would enjoy this one anyway.
I would recommend this movie, but I would have to be selective on who to recommend it to. It really is not for everyone.

The movie plot is very simple - just like old Popeye cartoons. What makes this one so entertaining is how each actor brings their character to life. Since this is a musical (I hate musicals - usually), each song is guaranteed to stay with you for hours (possibly even days). If you are a Popeye cartoon fan, then this is one video you really should add to your library.

Cute and entertaining movie

The plot line and story are so well done that it is easy to forget that your are watching a cartoon movie instead of live action. It is important to have contrasting characters for good and bad to play off of each other, and this movie does a very good job of elevating both the good and the bad without sacrificing either side's story line.
The DVD extras were a bit simplistic, but it is only a cartoon. I wish that it did have more features - I'm just not sure what I would recommend to see more of in the Extras. The DVD case itself is a bit flimsy, and bends while trying to remove the DVD from the case. Both complaints are very minor and really do not take anything away from my decision to purchase this movie, or the enjoyment of watching it.
Overall - I really did enjoy the movie, and feel that you should add this one to your library.
