Verified Purchase:Yes
An old computer I have managed to keep running for almost 20 years now is so old I cannot buy an internal BR DVD player for it anymore. This external USB-connected device resolved the issue.

Bought a series of drives to be used as replacement in my home server, with the intent of not only replacing bad drives, but to also increase total memory. I'm particular about using only 7200 rpm drives, and this turned out to be a great buy. Server is back on-line now with over 63 TB of memory.

Turn your powerline into a high-speed network with this TP-LINK AV600 Nano TL-PA4010KIT kit, which features compatibility with HomePlug AV, 802.3 and 802.3u Internet standards and a data transfer rate of up to 600 Mbps. AES encryption protects your data.

Yes... the bestbuy customer service agent who helped me, said I could only use 2 of these or the connection would diminish, yet from the answers it says you can pair as many as you need? Whats the truth?

Home power line wires are certainly not the best means for carrying high-speed Ethernet signals from one place to another. In my experience, I have successfully connected one source unit to 2 extensions without issues. It may be possible to add more, but I haven't tried that.

Do I need a router for these to work or can I just plug it into my WiFi modem?

These devices require a source of Ethernet connection. If your wireless modem has a spare Ethernet connection, that will server as the source. Where you plug the paired unit, it will server as the extension.

Just bought a Netgear Power adapter kit. One IN and one OUT. Need to add more OUTs. Will Tplink output adapter work with Netgear at the other end? Compatibility any issue or not?

If your Netgear adapter kit follows the IEEE standard specified by Tplink, they will work.

Does this work with Netgear routers? Does this work with consoles?

It requires an Ethernet input, and it provides an Ethernet output at a distance. It doesn't care about the source of the Ethernet.

Can this be used as a repeater or is it just a wireless way to connect a non smart device

It is not intended to be a repeater. It should be viewed as an Ethernet access extender.

Can you use a power extender to plug it in

Due to the fact that my TV was physically located far from where I could get Ethernet access, I originally purchased a pair of Ethernet over power lines to be able to connect the TV to the Ethernet. I have used them in a distributed manner to offer access to other devices as well (laptops, Xbox, home theater pc, etc.) and they have functioned well in those applications. However, these devices can be sensitive to loading and I have found that their usefulness deteriorates as Ethernet load increases. As such, I would not recommend putting these devices on any type of extension cord. In fact, I believe I recall that the information included from the OEM specifies that they not be connected in this manner, but must be plugged directly into the outlets on either end.

NETGEAR ProSAFE 8-port Gigabit desktop switch, designed for business with simple plug-and-play connectivity and no configuration needed. It comes with a sturdy metal case and the NETGEAR limited lifetime warranty. It supports Energy-Efficient Ethernet (IEEE802.3az) for optimized energy savings and DSCP-based QoS for traffic prioritization.

Does it require a flipped cable to go from router to the switch or does it automatically detect and flip it internally?

I don't know of any that require a flipped cable. I'm using it to connect desktops (3), to a server. None of those connections require anything other than a standard Ethernet cable.

My question is this Netgear 8 - port device connecting to Router or Modem ?

It should't care. Mine connects to both, along with connecting to other machines.

I have a 5 port plug-n-play switch that bottlenecks my 200 mbs signal to 100 mbs. Will this switch have a 200 mbs throuhput?

You need to make sure your existing switch is something more than a 1/10/100 switch.
The network switch you are asking about is rated as a gigabyte switch. The last switch I had died, causing all kinds of issues. This switch has functioned perfectly and though I've not done all I can to try to bog it down, it has handled all I have thrown at it. I'ts carrying the traffic of 3 desktops, 2 external Tb drives, and 4 DVD players, 2 of which are Blu-ray.

This TP-Link Powerline starter kit installs with no configuration for a fast, efficient setup.

Will these work between main house and cottage when cottage has a breaker panel fed by house?

It should work just fine. The documentation that comes with it states that it will work for outlets on the same circuit in the home. In my case, I actually have transmitters and receivers on separate circuits and it works just fine.
