A fairly good sequel to a classic horror film.

"Doctor Sleep" is a fairly surprising effective sequel to "The Shining" that primarily focuses on the unique world of individuals who have the "shining" all the while connecting events that happened in the previous film. The 4K release is very good with the theatrical presentation with regards to the video and audio to be excellent. The only drawback is the director's cut of the film is only available on Blu-ray. But the presentation and paclage overall is very good.

The Blu-ray disc overall presents a fine video presentation and a fairly good audio presentation. Even though the lack of extras is disappointing, "Parasite" is a film worth owning.

A solid show that unfortunately brought no closure

The second season of "Krypton" ups the ante with the introduction of several familar character in the DC Universe including Lobo & Doomsday while expanding on the Superman mythos. Unfortunately the series was cancelled as the a possible third seasons promised a potential interesting storyline involving the Thanagarians. The second season comes recommended for fans who purchased the second season but newcomers looking to get into the series may not want to dive in as it brings no closure.

An empathetic and painful look at a supervillain.

Todd Phillips' "Joker" is without a doubt one of the most effective films showcasing the origin of the iconic DC supervillain as it tends to set itself upon a real world in 1981 as a failed standup comedian named Arthur Fleck looks for companionship and care despite the world stepping down on him along with facing ridicule until he embraces the very persona the world will forever recognize. What makes "Joker" set itself apart from other comic book films is that it's more of a character study done in the manner of an independent film drawing influences from Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" & "The King of Comedy". But it also works as a reminder that anybody can become a persona like the "Joker" especially when society in general can turn their back on an individual.

How two men becoming the unlikeliest of friends

Peter Farrelly's "Green Book" has received praise along with some criticism for being very dated, completely dramatized while being somewhat of a reversal "Driving Miss Daisy" film and while the merits for those arguments are justified, the film overall is done fairly well with Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali developing great chemistry with their constant bickering and can be amusing at times. The 4K presentation is a bit of a step up from the Blu-ray but not by a whole lot. But still, for those that want this film in the best presentation then look no further.

An above average biopic with excellent production

Damien Chazelle's latest film "First Man") details the Apollo 11 landing of the moon involving Neil Armstrong and the process and excruciating toll it took on the astronaut to achieve the impossible. As a biopic, it's a fair representation but I felt Ryan Gosling was not right for the role of Neil Armstrong as he appears distant and cold and while some have stated he was like this in real life, it made the entire film lack an emotional punch. But I do give credit for the production in particular the cinematography when it came to the landing of the moon using IMAX cameras and the 4K shows this beautifully. Overall, I give the film a recommendation.

An interesting take on a cult classic

Luca Gudagnino's "Suspiria" takes the basic premise of Dario Argento's iconic film and puts his own twist in it adding more of a story that Argento would cover in the later films and the overall result is a solid one. I'll admit that it's not a film for everyone and fans of the original may not dig the changes made but I consider it to be an interesting take on a cult horror classic and give around a 3.5 (a little above a 3) and give it a recommendation.

An intriguing take of Haruki Murakami's short stor

Acclaimed Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong returns after an eight year hiatus with a unique psychological mystery film based on the short story: "Barn Burning" by Haruki Murakami. Lee showcases a fascinating character study that at times becomes opaque to the viewer guessing where the plot involving a young man befriending an old friend who introduces him to a mysterious person. When his friend suddenly vanishes, he starts to believe that the mysterious person may have been involved. For viewers looking for a fresh take on the noir genre, this film won't disappoint as it comes highly recommend and a must-see!

A unique take on the affairs of Queen Anne
on March 15, 2019

Yorgos Lanthimos' films aren't for everyone as his works often feature characters involved in outrageous situations that some viewers may simply not find to their liking. So in his latest acclaimed feature: "The Favourite", he creates a humorous take on the love affairs of Queen Anne during the early part of 18th cenury England as two women fight to become the Queen's favorite leading to some amusing results. This one comes highly recommended for arthouse lovers and is a must-see, but comes with a recommendation for viewers unfamiliar with the filmmaker's works.

A solid first season that shows promise by the end
on March 15, 2019

The idea of telling a backstory on Superman's home planet of "Krypton" may sound intriguing so David S. Goyer has decided to tackle this as a series and the end result is solid and definitely shows lots of promise by the end as there's a twist that takes place that's bound to cause lasting effects throughout the rest of the series. The pacing feels a bit uneven despite running only 10 episodes, so here's hoping the writers can do a better job maintaining a steady story for the next season. Overall, I give the first season of "Krypton" a recommendation.

Does this version of the film feature the Director's Cut as a special feature? Want to decide between getting this amazing looking steelbook or regular Blu-ray with the Director's Cut.

Yes. This release also has the director's cut of the film but only on the Blu-ray format and not 4K.

Will there be a US 4k release or possibly a steelbook by BestBuy instead of just a blu-ray copy?

A lot of people have asked this question. While there is currently a 4K version set to be available overseas in Europe, there may be a slither of a chance it arrives possibly down the road in the States. As Neon's (the distributor) record of yet releasing any of their titles (e.g. "Apollo 11", "I, Tonya" & "Three Identical Strangers) on the 4K format leaves any chance of a possible 4K release to be very slim.
