It's a temperature sensor, for the nest/Google eco-system. For the price, I really wish it would measure more or have more functionality.
Having the ability to use the temperature measurement from the hottest room in the house versus the windowless hallway that the thermostat is in, ensures there isn't too much of a variance.

i wish the notification sounds could be louder.
1. very sensitive touch pad. very sensitive.
2. we've had this unit for about 3 months, it's had 2 glitches:
one - it was stuck on 45 minutes and the drum was just spinning (power cycled the unit and it worked like usual)
two - it will every so often sense the load and adjust the time lower than you would probably like.

never even saw the package, but the install kit wasn't installed correctly, causing the entire room to become sauna-like. after contacting best buy, they sent another crew out, who found the vent wasn't connected to the back of the dryer. problem fixed, and the vent works as designed.

1. the touch controls are sensitive! slightest graze of the power button and you're starting over.
2. the sensing/time adjusting is a little off, certain heavy items will not come out dry, so you'll have to use timed dry or make sure you've picked higher/dryer/hotter settings.

Give the cleaning power of Maytag more prominence, while adding a drawer to hide away laundry supplies. Accessory pedestals add 15.5" of height for bonus storage and to help prevent bending and stooping.
