Part sci-fi film, part analogy of society in general. Aliens being treated like “aliens”. Prejudice, hatred on full display. A protagonist who doesn’t realize how privileged he is until he steps inside the shoes of the very creatures he despises. Definitely recommend this film. Probably Blomkamp’s best work. Also, the audio/video quality is top notch and the Steelbook case is a must have for any collector.

After getting a new TV and sound bar, I knew I also needed a 4K player. I love buying Blu-Rays and even own a few 4K movies already by accident. Not going to lie, the price is what attracted me to this player. The price points for 4K players are either this cheap or well into the hundreds. Very little middle ground. But so far, everything is great. Sound and visuals are phenomenal. I would have liked better apps on the player but it’s not the end of the world.

Sonic was one of the last films that I saw at the cinema in 2020 before the pandemic shut everything down. It’s a film that got off to a bad start when the original trailer introduced a hideous depiction of Sonic that was so hideous that the filmmakers had to redesign Sonic or face the wrath of film fans at the box office. That move paid off in the end as they not only made Sonic look more like Sonic but people also flocked to the movies to see the film. If you grew up playing Sonic 1 and 2 as a kid in the 90’s, this is a film that will take you back. And it’s zany enough for the youth of today to enjoy as well. A fun, well executed video game movie. Anything is possible.
Director Robert Altman brings E.C. Segar's beloved comic strip/cartoon character to life in this fun musical that's a delight for kids of all ages. Robin Williams stars as Popeye, who arrives in the seaside town of Sweethaven and is soon competing with the brutish Bluto (Paul L. Smith) for the hand of Olive Oyl (Shelley Duvall). With Paul Dooley and Ray Walston. Songs include Harry Nilsson's InchI Yam What I Yam,Inch InchBlow Me Down,Inch and more, plus Williams' cover of 1933's InchI'm Popeye the Sailor Man.Inch 114 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Growing up as a kid in the 90’s meant that I also saw a lot of 80’s films. Popeye was a film that was always on TV. Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall brought these classic cartoon characters to life. Although, certain aspects of the movie may not have aged well, seeing the film again brings me back to my childhood and how fun things were back then. To a time before tragedy would befall Robin and Shelley. A better time.

If you’re wondering what are some good films to watch in 4K, start here. Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy was made with an eye for epic visuals and sound. Start building your 4K collection with these films and you won’t regret it.

Probably one of the most significant anime’s of all time. It questions our existence as well as challenges our perceptions on what it means to be human. The live action film got the aesthetics right but lacked the philosophy and heart. Watch the original film before the live action one. Also, this slip cover Steelbook is easily Top 5 Steelbooks of all time in my opinion. Gorgeous cover.

Really enjoyed this. Growing up, my favorite cartoons were TMNT and Batman: The Animated Series. To see these characters come together against Shredder and The Foot was epic. Shredder vs Batman is one for the books.

I was hoping to see this film at the IMAX this year but then 2020 went Full Pandemic Mode and the rest is history. Thankfully I got to enjoy this film at home in all its 4K Ultra HD glory. It’s what most people should come to expect from Nolan at this point- a confusing narrative revolving around time and with a great musical score. This film is like the love child of Inception and Interstellar but not as great as those two films. Still, it’s enjoyable enough and will leave you with a few questions. It definitely requires more than one viewing.
