The Ram is definitely Problematic!

Please pay attention to the other poor reviews. I wish I had done so. My machine constantly froze and when it didn't freeze it was the slowest machine I've ever had . . . and I've had computers since the early 90's. Something is definitely wrong with the ram on this machine. This is being reported all over the internet and even HP confirmed there were issues with some of these models. Why Best Buy continues to sell this is shameful.

I originally had the Panny 820, but almost immediately upgraded to this top-of-the-line 9000. The 820 was decent, but it began to pixelate a number of discs (even after I cleaned the discs). I have found this 9000 to be superior in every way. It plays everything without issue. It is rock-solid and doesn't have the plastic feel of the 820. The video and audio are also noticably cleaner on my calibrated LG-G2 77" OLED.
Yes, it's pricy and twice the price of the 820. However, in all the decades of my purchasing higher-end audio/video equipment, I've come to learn you really do get what you pay for in equipment. I thought the 820 would suffice, but at the end it was the 9000 that hit the sweet spot. If you spent good money on your display device, do yourself a favor and don't skimp on the player that feeds it.

Disappointing 4K-UHD Transfer

I've been a fan of Star Trek since 1966. I have all the films and even a collection of the original series, as well as Star Trek: TNG. I've had many of the above on VHS, Laserdisc and regular DVD. I was really hoping this recent transfer up to 4K-UHD with Dolby Vision would be spectacular. It certainly should have been.
Sadly, I have to say it wasn't even close. I found the film to be DARK AND GRAINY. I currently own over a thousand discs, with well over 400 being Blu-ray and so far I have 97 4K-UHD films. So I've gotten pretty good at knowing what a good transfer should look like . . . and this ain't it!
I just read a professional review where even it acknowledged this transfer is at best rated at B+. I think that was overly-generous, as this should at best be a C-. My equipment is a fully ISF Calibrated LG-G2 77" OLED, Panasonic 9000 player and an upper-end Denon receiver. Paramount should be ashamed of this transfer.

I've had so many display devices over the last 4-5 decades (CRT sets, rear projection, DLP and plasma). I've had Sony, Samsung, Pioneer, Toshiba, etc. However, this LG-G2 77" OLED is hands down the finest cleanest display device I've ever owned.
Like with several other sets, I had this LG professionally calibrated via one of the highest rated ISF calibrators here in Calif. He found it to be one of the best sets right out-of-the-box, but calibration perfected an already incredible set. Black and white levels are now perfect. Colors and geometry are equally spot-on. 4K UHD and Dolby Vision on this set reflects stunning reference quality imagery. You won't go wrong with this display device.

I've always had Denon receivers (well there was a Yamaha in there at one point) and this 2700 checks all the boxes that I needed at a reasonable price. Denon and Marantz are also now the same company. Two of the best names in receivers have now merged :)
Routing my RoKu 2022 Ultra streaming box and Panny 820 DVD player through the Denon to my LG-G2 "77 OLED works perfectly. Audio and Video route smoothly via E-ARC. There are no lip-sync delay issues or any other problems. There's more than enough power to run my 5.2 system efficiently via my Martin Logan and B&W speakers.

I was initially prepared to spend a grand on the big brother to this Panny 820 fine player, until closer research showed me that spending twice as much, was NOT going to render double the performance or features. The 820 offers everything the Panny 9000 offers, except the 9000 is just more heavy duty. It's a great unit, but not twice the price great!
I'm loving the quality and performance of the 820. My 4K UHD discs are fantastic on my LG-G2 "77 OLED and Dolby Vision is simply incredible with this combination! I couldn't be happier. Even the staff at Magnolia strongly recommended going with the 820 over the 9000 for all the aforementioned reasons. Even my ISF professional calibrator recommended the 820. I couldn't be happier with this choice.

I was originally going to spend quite a bit more on some AudioQuest cables, but my research showed me it's not necessary to spend ridiculous amounts on exotic cables. The Rocketfish cables aren't exactly cheap in price, but they are more reasonably priced than the higher priced AudioQuest stuff.
I have them connecting my Panasonic DVD player and my Roku 2022 Ultra streaming box to my Denon receiver and then to my LG-G2 77" OLED and the images and sound are incredible! They are extremely well isolated with no perceptible interference.
I can also attest to the "Monoprice" cables on Amazon, as being really good quality at even lower price, but I felt a bit more comfortable spending the extra for the Rocketfish cables!

I had a Brother laser printer for years, but it finally started to give me trouble. I took the plunge with the Epson EcoTank primarily because I really liked the economical ink system and how much easier and CHEAPER it is in comparison to most of the HP printers I've had over the years. HP thinks their ink is liquid gold or something!
I also liked the ability to so easily feed a document into the feeder to make copies beautiful copies every time. The Brother laser printer I had didn't have that important feature.
I have the EcoTank printer connected to my HP desktop via Ethernet, but I also have it configured for easy Wi-Fi printing. It prints smoothly and quickly from my laptop and iPhone. But it's the really slick ink replacement system that makes the EcoTank machines really shine!

Is there an excellent 32 inch monitor to good with this super PC? Does it have to be HP?
Hi Tony! I posted the very first review for this great computer. The monitor I chose was the LG - 27UK600-W 27" IPS LED 4K UHD FreeSync Monitor . . . and I love it. Best Buy had a great price on it at the time. No, you don't need an HP monitor at all, although they are very good as well. The only tricky thing initially was finding the on/off switch for the monitor LOL! It's located near the top of the pedestal arm on the back of the monitor. I know you're set on a 32" monitor and there are great choices for those as well. I too was initially thinking I wanted a 32" monitor, but chose this 27". I think you'll choose what is best for you.
